I use a Panasonic bread maker, have done so for years. 2/3 small loaves a week and I doubt it costs any more than the best quality supermarket mush. Warm crust of bread with French strawberry jam......... The lady next door has had 2 lots of cancer treatment, very poorly and eats so little. But she loves fresh bread and butter so I make 2 loaves a week for her, take it round whilst its still hot. Every little helps.

Aye, mines a Panasonic SD256.

Had to buy a new blade recently, as the locating flat on the old one was badly worn, creating far more than the designed in free play around the shaft. Less than 10 sovs from the flea emporium.

Nice gesture doing the fresh bread for your neighbour. The simple pleasures are often the best.

OH grew some special poppies on the allotment last year (no NOT the opium sort before Lazarus says anything) :D They retain the seeds so you can use them in cooking rather than being scattered all over the ground like "normal" poppies. A very nice addition to the bread they were too.

I should really try making some bread again, but our local Tesco has one of those euphonium onsite bakeries, and most nights they will get shot of the remaining 100% ryes, or onion and cheese flatbreads for pennies.

The big man here wishes now he's bought the Aldi bread maker they had reduced to clear the other day, £25 instead of £55 ☺
