In the middle of nowhere on ADSL2. FTTC is enabled at the exchange but not at my cabinet.

Happily, we'll be moving somewhere with FTTC enabled to our cabinet soon so that'll be changing :)

At least I'm not the only one! Been waiting 2 years for them to sort my cabinet out while the rest of the village enjoys faster uploads...

I am about 500 meters from yeovil's main telephone exchange.

They even had to dig the road up to lay fibre optic cables. And 99% of Yeovil is fttc enabled.

Just not my road :-(

I checked my speed with two sites just now..

and....

Screenshot-1.png

Seems there's quite a difference in the results. The second test usually shows a quicker download speed.

And thats why i'm having Virgin fibre installed tomorrow. It used to be around 20mb down and 1.25 up when it ws first installed.

Can't say i will ever give BT any more money anytime soon.

My experience with Virgin is rather awful. Frequent downtimes lasting from several hours to a few days and off-shore "support" teams who have no clue.

I try to avoid large companies for anything whenever possible...

Doesn't it just. I'd be quite happy with what it reckons I have out here. Meanwhile line conditions actually are better according to Speedtest.

You want to try BT (Bangledesh T......., errm i mean British Telecom), It makes VM look like the best company out there.

BTs service and customer service is well and truly awful.

I now have VM setup, I just have to link the new superhub into my home network and remove the crappy BT Homehub :D

I have virgin .My normal speed is 33mb/s.They are anoyying in that they keep sneaking a couple of pounds onto the bill.|Any problems that I have had they sort out quickly.
I cannot ditch them because I think that other providers would be worse.
