The speed is slightly lower, than Vivaciti gave me, but it stays at that.

So far quite happy with the new service.

(Not including the telephone help line)

Used the Ofcom wifi tester to check my wireless signal, see below.

Day 11 since activation,

And it's very stable, slightly slower than Vivaciti but it stays at this speed, all day long.

No speeding up and slowing down.

So I am very happy. :D

No problems at all, the line stays at 15meg all day long. So fingers crossed, it will stay like that.

Absolutely. You don't want to be calling their Customer Runaround Department.

I have been offered 75Mb/s but I think I will stick with this.

After a few ups and downs, it seems to have stabilised on this:

After running a ping test to determine the best mtu size for my line.

I now get

image.png

So far very stable, the speed stays the same 24/7 the modem says it's connected at 21 meg.

Ping has dropped, but only by one.

I have changed the dns servers, from the plusnet ones to opendns ones.

It's coming close to a year since I moved into my new property with fibre and the connection has been first class. My ISP is Pulse8 and I would definitely recommend them. There was just a minor hiccup last spring when the overhead cable had a small break in it causing intermittent disconnections but that was hardly the ISP's fault. Openreach came sorted it out without a fuss or any charges to me.

Here's today's speed test result, which is pretty much like all the others I've done.

^^^^^^^
So much for VMs super fast broadband, that's supposed to be a 100Mb/s connection

[EDIT]
For comparison here's a proper VM 10Mb/s connection from the same location over wifi

I've just added another to that reply, this one over wifi on a proper 10Mb/s connection and the download speeds are faster!

I'll be ringing VM to shout in the morning if it's still the same

10 meg connection faster than a supposed 100 meg connection - it's a joke, I showed the neighbour over the road the speed test when I went to use his wifi as a comparison and he giggled (it's his 10meg connection)

With a bit of luck they'll be carrying out work on the network or it'll be a fast resolved fault rather than an over subscribed UBR

The modern era has arrived here at last...........mañana (tomorrow) has been the word here for many years!! :D

For the last three years............. 6 MB = €30,00 (I.V.A. included) per month.
Fibra optica installed today...... 30 MB = €26,00 (I.V.A. included) per month.

5 times faster and at a cheaper monthly rate......happy ;);)
