Burt Reynolds, the wisecracking 1970s movie heartthrob and Oscar nominee, has died at the age of 82.
According to Us Weekly, he passed away in a Florida hospital of a heart attack, attended by his family.

Gosh, I can't believe he was that age. I last remember seeing him in an episode of The X-Files when I hardly recognised him as he appeared to have had a huge amount of plastic surgery on his face which has completely removed his individuality.

Still best to remember him in earlier work.

I put on A Bunch of Amateurs last month, he didn't look too bad (and carried the story rather well) but it was some ten years ago.

That was released in 2008 whereas he guested in The X-Files in 2002 so it's possible that some wrinkles had worked their way back in by then.
