For those of you who dont know, Channel 4 HD has just gone FTA in preparation for Freesat launch, probably on April 1st (hope thats not a joke !). The settings as follows :-
SID 55300
Freq 12607 V
SR 27500
FEC 3/4
DVB-S2
QPSK

I am seeing some minor video stutter/picture freezes etc, but audio OK. Can anybody else who is experiencing this or similar, please report it in

it may change just before launch...you may see higher symbole rate with different FEC using 8psk like before ...as far as we can see this is a test transmission for now ,,you may even see a switch to another tranponder too ..let see what will happen 1st of april

Brian, there are a fair few Threads about the C4 HD Test and I really wouldn't worry about it until after launch as, as pipino also states.

I just posted this on another forum, it should sort the Ch4 HD problem.

For those with Fortec Star HD receivers you might have to go back a few firmware levels to get Channel 4 HD working properly. I dug out my Passion HD which was gathering dust on a shelf and it also had the video pause issue on Channel 4 HD. My firmware was at 1.42 so I tried the previous version from Sept 2009 (version 1.30) and Channel 4 HD is now OK.

The corresponding version for the Passion+ Pn2_av123 and for the Innovation it is In_av123 (all of these versions are available on the FS website). Whatever you do make sure you DO NOT put the wrong model's of firmware on your box or you could cripple the USB ports. Another word of warning, as this level is quite old you might miss some important bug fixes. It's a long time since I kept up to date with the Fortec Star so not sure what the latest updates were for.

Just tried it on my basic Passion model. Plenty of dust on mine too

I have version 1.44 (June 17 2010) and it does occasionally freeze. Seems like it was a half-hearted attempt with this version to rectify the problem.

I think there's a thread in this section somewhere covering this topic.

It's no longer a test, this is the only version of Channel 4 HD at 28.2/28.5 E

The Sky EPG switched to this feed last week and this is where the Freesat EPG will pick it up from when it launches. What isn't confirmed yet is whether the current FTA status is now permanent.

Yes, this is definitely stop-start video on the channel. But for now, for those us with only Passions, let's welcome another HD channel. Albeit only half a video HD channel for now :confused

I am receiving Channel 4 HD quite ok down here in Malta with a Clarke/Tech 5000s HD Receiver/Dreamboxes. No problem with picture freezes.

On the Passion+ - this is a Fortec Star thread Zorbua - you will find that CH4 HD recordings playback perfectly, and after a quick experiment, even timeshifting with a slight delay, say 1 minute, seems to resolve the issue.

The CH4 HD EPG looks to have gone live tonight. Not sure when the Freesat launch will be official.

Apparently FS will have fix for the CH4 HD video problem soon .

I have Passion+ and since BBC HD and BBC One HD have switched to DVB-S2 (and I have edited the transponders to DVB-S2 from DVB-S), they seem to be receiving fine. However CH4HD, even though that was the first to use DVB-S2 (and edited the transponder as per correct details above), the picture is still jerky.
So, I can say DVB-S2 is working on BBC channels but not CH4.

EPG does not update, barely get now/next anymore.

Fortec Star are getting themselves a bad reputation in the UK, and by virtue of the internet, globally. I'm surprised they are not supporting their problematic boxes. Perhaps they are but just are very slow about it - last software update was over 7 months ago, and there are still plenty of problems with the software.

I still get the FAT32 not recognised error all too regularly and miss recordings.

and I'm on their latest 130 for Passion+

HD Channel 4 planned outage

Dear Humax user,

Channel 4 have scheduled a change to the transponder that carries C4 HD.

The change will occur overnight on 27th March into early hours of 28th March – (23.00 to 03.00), and we therefore expect that C4 HD will be unavailable for a maximum of 4 hours at this time.

Its rumoured that this change is the TP reverting to DVB-S from DVB-S2 to accommodate 4seven - might this mean that the CH 4HD stuttering problem will be fixed by itself ?

Lets keep our fingers crossed
