Channel From Web - Help!

Hello

i am the current webdesigner for a european television channel named Demtv. recently i was asked to give users a function which would allow them to watch the channel directly from the website. I have never done this before so im a complete newbie when it comes to streaming media online. could somebody please give me advice on what i should do? or at least where i should start from.

Hello tek1atom,

Start by deciding on which video player the website will use:
RealPlayer, Windows MediaPlayer, etc. as you might need a paid license to use the relevant software.
Then contact the software manufacturer and check what they can offer and how to use their software.
The web hosting must have video streaming capability, compatible with the decided upon video player.
Also plenty of reading and Googling.

Thank you for your reply but to be honest im still lost. i decided i want to use Windows Media Player to stream the content. but what do i do next? how do i connect to the satellite to stream live from the channel? i researched a little on google but did'nt get any relevent knowledge. This is very important so i would really appreciate it if you could give me a step by step guide on how it would work.

The satellite channel will need to be introduced to a PC on the network by the provider, they can do this by using something like a Dreambox, or an MPEG video card, then you will need to buy some web streaming (multicast) software for the website itself.
