hey guys,

im after a channel list so i can go hunting on extreme east and west sats, but every channel list i try doesnt go beyond 34.5w and 53e - i want to do some testing, on extreme west sats, and need a channel list do so, so i can drive my dish to anywhere within the ARC .

thanks!

If you are in the UK you're going to experience problems, going too far East, and too far West, due to the satellite arc, satellite footprints, which aren't always available, in the UK, and the earths horizon.
Why not test it yourself, using william-1's strongest transponders lsit, for 45 West:
Strongest transponders | Page 5 | SatsUK - The Digital TV & Smart Tech Support Forums (satellites.co.uk)

And then use sites like lyngsat, to show you which satellites, and transponders, are possible in the UK, depending on your location, and dish size.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Add a satellite or edit an existing one.
Look on the Lyngsat, Flysat, KingofSat (etc.) websites for 45W and then, in your settings menu, add a new sat at 45W - it will have no transponders in the transponder list and so add those that you find for 45W on those sites (in practice, the only one worth adding is the one that I mentioned earlier in another thread for China Radio as I couldn't get any signals from the rest listed on Lyngsat because the beams are for Africa or are feeds that someone found sometime ago!).

Then send the dish to 45W via the DiSEqC motor settings menu using "Go to sat" and scan that transponder, which should then find the 5 radio channels that are there, but if not then slightly adjust the sat position as I outlined earlier.

have you tried adding a SAT in Enigma2, manually! omg

however, i've just found this!!! hoping this will work a charm...

Firstly try with your SX88 because that's pretty straightforward as that took me about 15-20 mins with mine earlier today - THEN work out how to do the same thing with your E2 m/c('s)

"Moral" = start "simple & easy", and then "work upwards" from there! :D

PS: when I asked for advice as to what to buy 6 ys ago, the Vu+ Solo 2 and TM5402 M3 were the recommendations and so I bought both - the former turned out to be a bit a learning nightmare which I never really mastered, but the TM turned out to be a lot easier to deal with in the longer term, and taught me what about for what I later bought, and thus what I "advised" just above :)

That is exactly what you need.
Create the xml file in UTF-8 format

Use Filezilla to copy the xml file to two locations in the E2 file system
1. /etc/tuxbox
2. /etc/enigma2

Reboot the E2 receiver to activate usage of your customised xml file.

PS to Post #7 - by which I suppose I meant that you need to sort out one thing at a time, and the most important of those is making sure that your dish IS aligned correctly because, without that, any other "steps" won't mean anything!

thanks guys!

ive just locked a TP on 58w "BEAM_IS21_WO1_0033" - 12db.
11592 - H - 25714 SR

just found 2x TPs at 40.5w too.

now this makes me think can my arc be off if i can get 58w at 12db, but only 53e at 5db ...

:)

IMHO, "In fact", it probably does because it still seems to me that your dish is probably aligned a very little too far to the East - unless and until you can confirm that you can lock onto and open the China Radio channels on 45W (??).

its annoying - cant seem to add 12.5w to it, and its not an option when selecting....very odd.

If you export your satellite and channel list to something like DreamboxEdit you should be able to edit and add channels and satellites.
After editing you can flash the updated list back into the E2 receiver.

Please "refer" to what I said earlier about your arc as the setting of your motor on the mast is almost certainly very slightly too far East !! (FWIW, I used to get China Radio on 45W with the TD110, and possibly - can't remember! - even with the TD88)
