guys this is the IRTE polarmount from a prime focus dish that i want to put on my channel master 1.8m offset.
im wondering could i install the circular plate that the irte polarmount is attached to,as in make a square frame for the back of the channel master and bolt the round circulat plate to the square frame on the channel master,i have added pics of my irte thats still on my irte prime focus dish, also need to extend the declination on the irte polarmount to work on the cm offset dish.

any ideas or advice and help more than appreciated guys.

the round circular plate that holds the irte polarmount to dish is about 20 inches in circular diameter and the 4 holes on the back of the cm 1.8m are 2ft from top left to top right and also 2ft bottom left to bottom right and the same from top left to bottom left and top right to bottom right 2ft also,so im thinking i could bolt the the round plate that holds the polarmount on to this the square frame attached to cm 1.8m

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

You could, though the polar, punt you have is designed for lightweight aluminium reflectors where the centre of gravity is close to the pivot of movement.

You can try it since from your description you are just bolting parts together as opposed to modifying. I suspect you will need to construct a counterweight system to give the actuator an easier life since so much mass is forward of the polar bearings.

When you say counter weight can you explain some more as I'm not sure what it is your telling me about counter weight.

There's a discussion about a counter-balance for a 1.8CM here:
The result was something that was described as 'steampunk'
I would be reluctant to put a 1.8CM on an IRTE polar mount

and here's the counterbalance setup on an az-el mount:

Unless you really want/need the 1.6dB (theoretical) advantage of the 1.8m, what's wrong with the IRTE reflector?
<edit> I just realised your IRTE is a 1.2m not 1.5m so that's 3.5dB less than a 1.8m

the irte 1.2m will not lock most feeds on 7.e 10.e etc and in bad weather no chance on the 1.2m

am going to get a polarmount made up and it will be based on the design like the one on sat superstore.may as well do it properly and stop all this messing about with a irte mount that was never intended for a cm 1.8m

Search for posts by Mapperuo on the forum. The IRTE mount you have is good for aluminium up to 2.4m and so with the right preliminary work it will cope with a 1.8 SMC.
