Ash-Sharqiya on Hotbird is following a celebration in Baghdad and interviewing the people there.

And now Dubai showed a bit of Abu Dhabi, probably pre-recorded from the top of the hour. But now off to a concert. Unless some place in UAE is yet to have their fireworks, I'll be switching over to the Iraqis.

I saw the Dubai stream in parallel with satellite stuff. Turned to the main Saudi channel stream to see if there was fireworks but there was a random camel apreciation programme. :-rofl2

Forgot about Georgia, did anyone look there?

I had a quick look - fairly promising for a future chase. Unfortunately my screengrabs didnt work - should have concentrated more where I was clicking for them!

Had a look at the Azerbajani display - SWMBO thought it a "bit tame"

Saudi hits midnight at 21 GMT, although I'd consider it highly unlikely that much if anything will be seen there - the last time I checked they only used the Gregorian calendar for civil purposes such as paying wages. I'm watching Iraq now.

Note - some aerial shots on Ash-Sharqiya are clearly pre-recorded. I spotted the Moon and Venus in one of those but the Moonset in Baghdad was today at 2200 Arabian Standard time, or 1900 GMT.

And I just heard ABBA's Happy New Year as a theme music on the said channel, first sighting for me this year.

Hard to know but they are probably taking advantage of some clear weather, it might be cloudy when they are live.

Yeah, maybe even other factors at play. Sharqiya just returned from a commercial break, including for mobile service. 20000 Dinars (£12.69) a month for 2 GB of data + voice service :-rofl2

Tried that about 1/2 hour ago - SWMBO "not impressed" again ("why can't we watch "normal channels" :( ) - but now cheating by linking my laptop to the TV to show "LIVE STREAM 2020.." when the "next hour comes around", as well as the "F*****g Putinesk" Moscow event via Rossiya from 13E on "real sat":D

I was watching Iran as well but they were mainly reporting the boozeup (without the booze) that got a bit out of hand...

At least he can string some words together that make sense, unlike some...
