Despite cable having been available in my location for 30 years, I have never falt the desire to hook up with them and from family experiences probably never will. It would seem VM continue the trend within the larger communication companies of rather aggressive incremental pricing deals once you introduction contract expires. My son took up a deal with them when he bought his first property near Croyden two years ago. His deal was about £50/month for telephone, pretty fast, broadband and basic TV channels. When his contract expired, within weeks he was paying nearly £80.00 per month which he obviously got rid of. Why is it that companies think, they can abuse their customer in this way? I think they would be far better offering 1yr, 2 yr or five year contracts to customers, that way they can choose what suites them and their pockets without creating this kind of annual churn

Never even had the possibility of getting cable - the nearest VM service is at least 25 miles away with absolutely no prospect of them laying cables down to us.

I helped with the redesign of the cable system around here in 1996. It's never worked since.

I've got their broadband phone and TV package, everything except sport and Movies, although I do get things like eurosport and BT Sport thrown in, it is expensive though. I went for Virgin, as the copper wire internet service was terrible, it's probably improved now with the advent of fibre to cabinet, may have a look around at the offers around when this contract expires, will take a lot tempt me away from my 200 mpbs though.

Glasgow,ish!
They are idiots traded away their ability to produce their own content to $ky who rebranded channels within about a week and destroyed the content in about double that time frame. The done this all in the name of getting HD variants of the existing $ky channels they had the rights for, and no doubt $ky got even more money for the sports side of said channels, every five years they traded away any credible threat they were to $kys business. My most common discussion with customers I put up Freesat dishes for was them telling me how they were £80 for cable and "That was with any movies or sports channels..."

Yes well the poor service was another factor in his decision to go elsewhere, in the 12 - 18 months he was with them his phone-line was disconnected three times by an engineer working on another line and the last time he was left with no phone for 3 weeks.

Man I wish I could get pricing like that over here.

I'm paying $150 US (121.4 BP) a month for satellite, $65 (52.6 BP) a month for phone and $50 (40.47 BP) a month for internet, if AT&T can deliver a bundled plan (phone, TV and internet) that would work in my area (remember I'm out in the boonies) for the $110 a month (89.00 BP) that they have advertised, then I would drop what I have in a second.

But our infrastructure here in the US is falling apart, the phone lines in my area date back to the 60's, the electrical lines back to the 30's, and cable is non existent, if they ever get off their fat backsides they should put a fiber drop to everyone, this would solve a lot of problems.

About the same as ours william. We pay £4.75 a month for free calls after 1900.Before the new team took over it was free calls after 1800.Mrs ponti rarely phones anyone before 7. I looked it up.Virginmedea is now owned by Liberty Global Telecomunications.
My last ips with bt line was Tiscali a long time ago.The phone line was terrible The connection box at the top of the pole oposite me was fetched of the pole in high winds. It was hanging from the pole with the wires for sometime. The line was never any good even when the got round to repairing it.It is probable still as bad now.

For sure I was under the impression my bill was £50 for 3 months, anyway broadband was faulty last week took them 3 days to even admit it on their website.
I was getting only 1 mb instead of over 200.
The support is rubbish, first day the lady said I was under traffic management and all would be good again after 2 hours.
I didn't believe her because I was doing nothing different on the internet than I have for the past years, and when I checked their website they only traffic manage to around 40%, so still should have got around 100mb, are the staff badly trained or just instructed to fob people off?.
day2 the lady said the lines were too crowded and would be fixed by 7 pm, didn't ring true, and so it transpired.
Day 3 finally got through to someone with knowledge, and agreed to let him remote the computer, after 10 minutes he admitted he hadn't any idea as to the problem, and booked an engineer for 10 days time.
After about an hour they rang back and cancelled the engineer, citing the fact they had identified a fault on the exchange.
For the first time their website showed a fault on their status line with an estmate of fix for 10pm.
Any way sunday morning it was fixed 3 days after the fault occured, and approx 12 hrs after virgin admitted fault on their website.
So it looks after virgin do not admit a fault until they know the cause, which leaves customers pulling their hair out and needlessy messing with their connections, it is a wrong policy for virgin to use, imo.
Any way the upshot is I found out my bill was monthly, and not as I thought.

Did you press for some compensation for your inconvenience? A month's free broadband is about right for this sort of thing in my experience.

Didn't get into compo talk, as they mever actually admitted it was their fault, until the email cancelling the engineer, but you are right they defimately owe me something as their service was non existent for 3 days.
THis morning the line was running at 220mb, no way they can say they still offered a service, as per contract, at 1mb
