Well it is digital photography but more related to the microsim used for such, has anyone any suggestions how to get rid of this corruption on my 16Gb micro usb from my phone, I have tried a number of partition management softwares, I have tried removing them using deltree and del on an old dos machine, it seems it is destined for the bin.

Try using the card testing software I posted earlier Peculiar SD Card Behaviour

That destroys all data on the card and then you can format it afterwards.

Way ahead of you Paul and I at first thought it had worked but alas no magically all the files on the card return including the corrupted ones despite the software reporting to the contrary

How are you reading the Micro card? If you're using a micro to full size adaptor is there a locking tab at the side and is it engaged?

Eggs, granny, sucks but you never know.

Hi Paul, I have both types a, combi micro reader and an std micro adaptor card unfortunately both tell me it is locked regardless with that software. I have read that the flag can be altered under linux but I am not having any success with it so far and my Linux installation is not recognising other drives as it it also FUBAR and an old version so unable to access on-line files to repair it as installation is out of date.
Frustrating to say the least

How much space do these files take up? Ignore them perhaps? Are they hidden from normal eyes?

When you run the card testing software what does it report?

I'm running out of ideas...

I have been trying for over 12 months to sort it Paul, it is annoying as it was a 32Gb and only 2.5 Gb is used. I have tried numerous ones reformatting with win10 says it is damaged and unable to fix, the SD formatter says it is locked. Partition manager says it has damaged chains. It is the corruption that is stopping it being added to or reformatted, the chip appears to be read only now. I saw a dodge using diskpart from a cmd windows but even that does not work

Perhaps it has reached the end of its life? There are a limited number of read/write operations that a memory card can take. Normally it would take years and years to reach that but maybe the card has been used in something that artificially aged it?

I have had defective adapters. Sometimes a card won't work in one phone but is ok in another phone. I line up all my phones and tablets and adapters and work though them till I find the one that formats the card.

Yes, that crossed my mind at the time, so I tried a different one with the same result.

Also, the adapters were fine with all my other cards.

Edit: Whoops, wrong Thread .... I'm referring to a dud card I had last week. Sorry!

That is one theory I have not tried, now where did I put my stash of old phones?

Another thought - try using the chkdsk command on it.

Yes tried that too Paul with various handles, unfortunately I have drawn a complete blank with this but thanks for the suggestions regardless of what I do the files remain undeletable, the partition remains unalterable, here are some error messages

From one of the most reputable in the marketplace MyMemory, but I suppose anything is possible in this world, I have just checked I have had it since sept 2014, but never put my music on it which would have tested it's capacity initially

It does seem that Fake Flash Test is telling us that there's only 3.5MiB of space on the card. Presumably there was more space than that before and you were able copy files on and then off successfully.

Well as I said I did not copy my music which is what I normally do but I knew I was going to continue using my old HTC for music
