The C-Band was allocated to and used by the satellite industry since the first networks were deployed over 40 years ago. Today more than 180 satellites with a C-Band spectrum operate in the world, 55 of which cover Europe.
Every three to four years, regulators from around the globe gather to meet at the ITU’s World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC) to review, and, if necessary, revise international regulations governing the use of radio spectrum by all technologies including satellite. WRC-15 will be held in Geneva from 2 to 27 November 2015.
One of the critical items on the agenda will be a discussion of the future of C-band. There is intense debate underway as to whether terrestrial mobile telecoms providers should in the future be able to access C-band frequencies, which until now have been used predominantly by satellite operators. Patrick van Niftrik, VP Spectrum Management & Development EMEA, SES explains why this is such an important issue, how the satellite industry is coming together in the effort to safeguard satellite C-band spectrum and what you can do to help in this debate.

:mad::mad:INDEED I AM NOT !!!!!
FOOK mobile ffing fones ..They already cause enough problems with radiation..
They already stole half the UHF band originally designated for TV ...for bloody 4G...
Like the connection aint fast enough..already..
Once upon a time Religion was considered the Opium of the masses ...
Now it's bloody facebook ..tweeting and twittering absolute crap around the globe ..
Now they want another slice of spectrum to spoonfeed the average moron their daily allowance of opiates...
I've never owned a mobile phone and have made it thus far quite comfortably..
I have a landline phone for conversation..
I have computers in abundance for other forms of communication ....and TV coming out my ears ..
Why O Why do we need more of this Shyte..
Mutter Mutter ...
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed. WiMax towers around Russia are already causing plenty of issues with C band reception there....

Nice rant VS...
Like CJ says, WiMax is already widely used, discouraging C-band dx-ers everywhere.
The future for broadcasting is Ka-band. Gotta love rain fade!

...There will come a time when a mobile phone/gps chip will be surgically embeded our heads ..
At first a choice ...and later..
probably compulsary from birth ..
Certainly it's the dream of the phone companies ...
They will be able to track your every move ...listen in on your private comunications ...
A sort of mind control...
Thank Higgs I'll be long dead n gone when such nonsense becomes reality..

Arrogant Bstd officialdom ..
They don't own it ...it's not a tangible 'thing' or property to be bought sold or shared out..
If they could they'd claim ownership of the air you breath ..and rent you a mask to breath it through ..
So many litres per lifetime...
GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

"The European 5G conference" is being held today and tomorrow in Brussels.
The European 5G Conference 2018 | Summary

For Europe, C-band's lower half (3.4...3.8 GHz) continues to be "needed" for 5G. Can't even the important 3.7...3.8 GHz part stay clean?
