The SM3D22 was provided with a 3rd F connector and a build-in 1.0 diseqc switch , the SM3D12 was the standard version .
At a sat meeting in 2004 I did a demonstration with a laserpointer at the rotor showing the arc on a wall .
Started at zero and marked the spot on the wall , worked to 42º E , marking sevaral positions between .
Returned to zero and made markings till 30º W with also marking sevaral positions between .
When turned back from 30º W to 22º W the spot did't hit the 22º marking but stopped 11 mm to early .
This mismatch happened every time with the opposit approch as a used for the marking .
11 mm at a distance of 2 mtr is ± 0.3º , no big deal at a strong signal satellite but at a weaker satallite it make some difference .
Later I noticed that this rotor has a arc from 50ºW to 50ºW with a pulser that provide 277 pulses over that range , so one step is 0.36º
I do not know if the counting and arc range at both rotors are the same .
My error, previous findings, some other installer reports along with your motor start / end point do suggest backlash, as opposed to reed switch counting.

Thank guys. Ok, I guess I will get the TM 2600. No other clear options!

I have had good experiences with the stab in the past, with 120cm dishes in very windy and exposed places. Although after some time they start working worse. So not the kind of thing you want to buy second hand. A shame they don't do them any more, but let's hope the TM 2600 is not too far away.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
FWIW, several years ago, I raised the question of how much the ability of an Rx to specifically define very accurately the "requested orbital position" of a sat under USALS because the likes of my old TM 5402-M3 can (at least theoretically!) define that position to two decimal places (e.g. to "0.01" degrees, as opposed to "0.1" degrees) and actually affect the received Signal Level & SQ, whereas most modern Rx's can only do that to 0.1 deg, but, IIRC, no one came back without any real "answer" as to the "importance of the difference". Has the answer to that question ever been resolved?

OTOH, the STAB dish motor in question here seems to have a much "bigger" inherent backlash isssue!

Had a bit of a backlash issue with (at least) one of the Dark Motors here - but easy to sort.

In my experience the STAB was not very precise. I was all the dime adjusting position in disecq mode, but it was strong and durable.

So I ordered the TM2600, and today I received a parcel with a TM2300. Seller selling that 2300 is the new version of the 2600 (??!!).

It doesn't seem to be the case, but: anybody knows what is the difference?

The 2300 is plastic gearbox wheels, the 2600 was/is all metal construction.

I can't comment on which one is better, but there would be a price difference.

Thanks. It sounds like metal should provide better support. And my dish is a bit exposed to wind. So I guess the 2300 is not a good idea

Seller surprisingly insisting that 2300M3 is a new version and that it has metal drive. Should I believe that?

You ordered a 2600 so either way you have been mis-sold. The feature "anti clash back" sounds interesting

Absolutely. I have already told me that they should have checked with me before sending it.

But well, if 2300M3 is as good as the 2600 it would be more comfortable to keep it.

I can't comment on which one is better, but there would be a price difference.

Do you think "metal plate" includes the "gearbox wheels" and maybe there is this new 2300M3 version which could be also all metal construction?

I think 'reinforce metal plate' is more a description for the part that attaches the motor to the pole.

You could always take it apart and have a look inside.

Interesting the TM-2300 is the only motor listed on the Technomate site:

The TM2300 I would imagine that it has has plastic gears as it is cheaper so you get what you pay for also they have dropped the logo all metal gears,
Costs £35 most sites £50 from TM shop.

Cheap crap to avoid,
So time to do another search for DiSEqC motor with metal gears.
