Hello.
I've just brought a MEO box back from Madeira and want to hook it up to my dish. How big does it need to be? Will a 60cm dish do or does it need to be bigger?

Also I'm having problems finding HIspasat. ANy tips?

Cheers,
Mr T.:)

60 cm will be fine for most of the Hispasat transponders.. 30W is a LONG way round past southand can be tricky to find as theres nothing much else round there to lock onto beforehand. Just keep looking for it.

You will need to adjust the skew of the lnb anticlockwise to peak up the signal once you find it.

I'm using the primary lnb from a monoblock. Will this work? I have a feelign that as my dish is mounted next to a curved wall (facing due south) the wall may be preventing me from getting the westerly signals. Hotbird and Astra have been easy.

Yes it should work, the secondary feed wont be usable of course.

If you get it working on 1W & 28E then 30W will be the more or less the same distance the other side of 1W as 28E is on the one side.

Please pardon me if this is the tickest comment you'll ever read...but do you mean tune the monoblock to 1W and 28E? I looked at my sky dish (which is mounted on a different wall) and assumed that 30W would be more or less the mirror image of it. Is that correct?

No - tune the primary side of the monobloc to 30W. Theres nothing useful nearby to use the secondary side of the monobloc on so you wont have to worry about that.

As for the second part. Tune the dish to 1W. Move it to 28E and mentally work out how far the lnb has moved from 1W. Move the lnb the same distance the other side of 1W & you will be close to 30W. it wont be perfect, but should give you a starting point & you should be fairly close

What is the strongest Hispasat transponder?

I am trying to get reception using my old SL65 box before plugging in the MEO box. Is this a good idea, or should I just go for broke and try MEO straight away?
