I have a Comag TWIN HD /CI+ ,happy with it
not using the CI+
Seems the Comag company is sort of asleep,so I need another brand.
Have to think of a new one ,as new standards are coming up the road.
It seems HEVC is the new one,are there any others I should think of ,FTA-wise?
I don t need the Italians ,and I get the French on a Yagi..
Just to be able to keep the rest after the next technological update (similar to arrival of HD)
Seems Ultra HD is following the 3-D way:cul-de-sac...or am I wrong?
So,what is next?

PVR as in internal hard disk or USB? There's not many of the first on the market these days, however just about all will record to USB.

If you're willing to put the effort into learning the not so user friendly Enigma 2 operating system then an Octagon SF8008 is a common choice. Otherwise the more expensive Technisat Technibox UHD S is about the only consumer orientated twin tuner HEVC box I could find after a quick search that doesn't have terrible reviews.

4K is here to stay, mostly as a premium pay-tv option, but you never know what's around the corner.

Comag comes up with a surprising product every now and then,

Whilst more associated with televisions, app access through the stb is becoming popular, and I would expect a microphone enabled remote control might appear soon.

Enigma 2 operating system; is there a nice tutorial I could use to get an idea of how unfriendly this system would be to me,,?

Ross will be along in a minute. :Y

The twin SF8008 unit I received from TJ last week has got ViX on it, which will be sent into the ether as soon as I find a spare USB stick.

A marked improvement over what VIX ? Or 6.3

Vix is not a bad image im not going to slate it in fact there are no bad e2 images its more how you set them up with what plugins, but the layout of Pur-E2 is more pleasing to me. Im on 6.5

I'm not slating them, but the two OpenViX images in the receiver (5.3 and 5.4) have changed little from the ones I saw a number of years ago in the VU machinery.

Will look for the 6.5 download tonight.

Vix 5.3 to 5.4 was an OE core change.

I personally believe the layout of the Vix image not changing is a bonus and for people new to E2 its a very good image to start with as most of what you need is already implemented. But under the hood has obviously moved on from years ago.

I use the ViX image on several E2 receivers.

Once installed, the first change I make is to set "Simple Ten Eighty" as the skin.
It is a skin that is included in the build of the image but not set as the default.
