Got my old Echostar AD-3000IP Viaccess out the loft, not been used for a few years. Today it worked for about an hour, then I left it for a while with the 'press menu' screen displayed. I came back to it, tried pressing menu but got no response. Pressing standby on the remote switched it off, but then when trying to turn it back on the light on the display just goes round and round. Every now and then tv flashes momentarily but that's it. Pressing standby makes the display flash the unset clock --:-- and the relay clicks. Any ideas?

Almost certainly a flash memory problem. I've had two with the same symptoms, i.e a circulating light on the display.

There was a batch of eeprom chips used in these receivers with a flawed cell structure. To all intents and purposes, the receiver is now unusable.

I've salvaged the power supply as it is identical to the one in my D2510IP. Or perhaps it can be repurposed in a custom standalone positioner.

@ozumo Do you ever travel up through the Scottish Borders? (im a couple of hours north of you 5 miles from Kelso) Ive got an old Echo 3000 sitting in the garage. You can have it for a donation to the forum, but due to the weight its probably not worth shipping it. It worked last time I used it (Chasing Midnight NYE 4 or 5 years ago) but of course no guarantees. If you are interested I'll fish it out of its box, dust the cobwebs off it and plug it in to see if it still works.

@Analoguesat & @ozumo - shouldn't cost more than about a tenner for a courier delivery if you search carefully. That's what it cost @nelson_b when I sent mine to him.

Thanks for the offer but it's not something I need right now :) I only got mine out of the loft to try to help in subman's current thread about the same receiver. I'm in a vulnerable group in relation to that lurgy that's been going round so am not even venturing out of the house at the moment :-wow however once that's over I'm sure it won't be long before my regular jaunts around the country picking up obsolete electronics restart, but don't save it from the tip on my behalf

Okey dokey :) It will stay in its box until a use is found for it. Or I discover its faulty.
