Tragedy in Beer Shiva last night.
An apartment caught fire, possibly because the kids were playing with matches.
The highlight was when an 8 YO girl jumped to safety after climbing the balcony and was caught by neighbors who prepared a blanket for her.
Brave girl.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Sad indeed, and a timely reminder to parents to keep things like lighters and matches out of the reach of young children... :(

I agree with you. I disconnected the kitchen from the gas company so that I wouldn't keep matches at home and as a non smoker I don't have lighters either.
I think there should be a law to have fire escape systems in high buildings or at least fire extinguishers in every home or apartment.
In our 5 storey building we have a water fire hose on 2nd and 4th floor but not too long perhaps 10m each, and I can bet I am the only one who noticed that.
Maybe we should have a fire drill one day on how to use it.

To be fair here in the UK our fire regs are pretty good

More so after grenfell I imagine

There was massive changes for us sparkies January 2016

18th edition regs will tighten it further I suspect

Better to teach them that fire is both painful and not to be messed with.
