William-1 you're very eager but, as I pointed out before, only watching n2yo leads to wrong conclusions.
You're only seeing the daily motion, based on yesterday afternoon's TLE.
Right now 9A is at its most easterly point, in 12 hours will be back near 9.0°E again with this TLE.

Until the TLE is updated, and showing a location more than 0.2° away from 9.0°E, we can conclude 9A is on the move!

If it's to be redeployed, I can't see why they would park it at 16 east with two other elderly birds (16B & 16C) already parked there in inclined orbit. The former 9A satellite still has a few years of life before it's forced to go inclined. Some guesses could be returning back to 13 east for backup capacity, 48 east might be another option. 30.8 east? 33 east is another possibility given the elderly satellites in place there at present.

The rank outsider is for the bird to be rechristened Eutelsat 28C.

EUTE 9A (HB 7A) is ideally suited to operate @16 east as no one is broadcasting from this location in this part of the ku band 11700 to 12500

I agree, 9A would be well suited for expanding 16°E towards Europe.
Or if the footprint can be adjusted properly towards Africa, might even be a replacement for the lost Amos-5.
Eutelsat and Amos were already cooperating in the 16°E/17°E slot.

Eutelsat 16B is end-of-life since Feb 2015.
Eutelsat 16C is actually at 14.5°E (inclined 3.4°), as Eutelsat says "providing internet services for markets in Central Asia".

Had to delete previous post, the issued TLE's of 9A and 9B were mixed-up...

This afternoon's TLE has 9A at 9.3°E now, moving East with just 0.2° per day.

Difficult to track the 9A beacons with my analyser because of the cluster of the many beacons at its present location. I'll have to wait until it moves a bit more.
May be easier for someone with an SDR dongle.

Yes, with 0.3° per day now.

Several time I noticed a satellite arrives at a new location at the end of the month, so as to start service in the new month.
If this is the case here, 9A is moving to 16°E.

Surely at this rate, 9A will not move tens of degrees to the East.

9A was at 9.38 east @ 09:20am now @ 12:20pm showing as 9.48 east = 0.10 degrees in 3 hours looks like it is going a bit faster now ?
Please correct me if I am wrong.
