British Grand Prix Rawe Ceek is here

Just a reminder that all sessions of F1 are live and FTA on Channel 4. As well as fiddling with the format they have messed around the schedule as well, all times BST and don't include the pre-race guff:

Friday:
Free Practice 1.....1430
Qualifying.............1800

Saturday:
Free Practice 2.....1200 (followed by W Series Race)
Sprint Qualifying...1630

Sunday:
Race ....................1500

That Channel 4 commentator really loves the grarrn prix. A definite downgrade from Ben Edwards.

Got very bored of having to explain why this sprint race wasn't a race but qualifying even though qualifying was yesterday.

(Also many of my teams have been knobbled by Lewis's crap start and Perez retiring) :-doh

Definitely a "work in progress", but I enjoyed the Sprint as a new dimension to a Race weekend - although the main interest was seeing how Teams and Drivers made tyre choices, and managed risk ( except for Checo!).

On another tack, Russell is a revelation. Good job Hamilton has already got the 2022/2023
money heading towards the Bank!

It's almost like the race has been started but there's now an overnight red flag.

Agree about Russell. I also don't see what he is under investigation for. From his on-board it looked like he was minding his own business and turning, not like he suddenly turned right into Sainz :confused

The standing restart after the red flag looked kind of weird. All out of the box, except for Hamilton.

Yes another fine strategy decision by Mercedes :-doh

I wonder if Mercedes thought they couldn't instruct Lewis to pit? On the warm up lap before the actual start of the race, teams aren't allowed to 'coach' the driver, apparently this rule doesn't apply to red flag restarts.

No I suspect it was strategic, if they had pitted Hamilton, he would have had to wait until the whole stream of cars had passed him (being in the first position in the pits) before being released. Thus he would still have been near the back and possibly the victim of 15 unsafe releases.

Ah yes unsafe releases - one of the Alfas took out my fantasy team stalwart Mazepin during one  PS I'm not sour at all about my lead shrinking to virtually nothing :-rofl2

Does anyone know if the fantasy points will be recalculated? Asking for a friend

edit: Apparently not: "Changes because of disqualifications, grid penalties or something like that after the PFRL database update do not have any influences on the PFRL results anymore"

The friend is disappointed.

That Max Verstappen is such a party pooper, denying Russell poll position :( Hopefully George will pass Max on the Kemmel straight and disappear into the distance for a famous first victory. Would also be sod's law after I swapped him for Alpha Tauri drivers in two of my fantasy teams :-doh :-doh

Hmm....isn't there a saying about "changing horses in midstream"?

Indeed there is... in the future I must not allow myself to be charmed by two horses dressed in snazzy Italian clothes, even if they look a fair bit faster in the Friday trots :-ohmy
