Rather than dispatch this straight to the tip has anyone come across this type of fault and be able to suggest the reason for it, seems there will be only three things swap, the PSU, the main board and screen itself. There's a similar model on Ebay with cracked screen but don't want to end up spending more than it's really worth if it turns out to be the screen itself.

This appeared at switch on one day so there's been no knocks or falls , you can probably see from the video that the right side of the screen is OK but at refresh it slowly fades up right to left with a green tinge. Possibly related it doesn't always switch on but the standby LED alternates on and off suggesting a PSU fault but could that also account for the screen behaviour?

Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
There may be a third PCB at fault, some HDTV's have what is called a ""T-Con"" board, this board control's the picture timing for control and logic signals for intensity and colors to the LCD screen, this board may be located at the middle bottom of the unit and under a shielded cover.

If this board goes bad, so will the picture, it can be replaced if you have the skills to open the set. But be sure to get the right one for your model.

Also, how old is this set? If more then 4 or 5 years then there may be a cap problem in the power supply, some electrolytic caps that are used in the power supply can dry out and bulge up over time, these caps then loose their function to filter out AC ripple and other noise in the power supply, this can affect the over all picture.
