Aha. That might explain why my Mobile Home Page Bookmark to "What's New" only works intermittently.

Have just noticed that, whilst Staff Signatures are still visible, mine (and probably those of other non-Staff members) is not.
Maybe I spoke too soon!
However, there are no location (etc.) details below the members's GIFs (not sure when those disappeared as that may have been before this update?)

Couldn't access the site a few times last night.

The ability to post full size images doesn't appear to be present. (edit - it's a pull down selection now)

The forum shall be referred to as "SatsUK", and satellites.co.uk is just the URL? Or maybe it was always SatsUK and I never noticed?

SatsUK is just the informal name we use for the forum. The url has always been satellites.co.uk

I didn't think the URL changed.
But can't recall "SatsUK", even as a informal name.
So from now on, I would write "I read that at SatsUK" instead of "satellites.co.uk". Saves a few seconds!

No! "satellites.co.uk" has fewer characters to type than "I read it at SatsUK" - so use that!:-rofl2

You see now? I was too lazy to type the same twice, so appreciate the shorter name!

Since the thread that @chris started a few days ago to announce the large forum update now seems to have disappeared, I can't post "relevant" comments in it - so I'm doing that here.

My comment is that I am "not over-impressed" by the new and very bland Logo of a monitor screen with a large "arrow" in it as it doesn't really seem to reflect one of the main subject areas of the forum - which is satellite TV reception - and which was (IMHO) far more appropriately indicated by the image of a satellite dish in the previous logo.

TBH: the new logo is "something of nothing" and difficult for potential new members, or people just searching for help with sat systems, to interpret - and therefore would not be likely to "grab their attention" and then "come in and look around".

That's my opinion, but what do other members think????:confused

Mod. Note Moved to the, errm, "missing" Thread ..........

Click on the bottom of the page where it says "vice 2.2" and change it to "SatsUK Wide" to revert to the previous logo.

The logo change doesn't bother me, but I still prefer the SatsUK Wide skin as on mobile the menu bar takes up less space.

Use the "Wide" style and carry on as before.

Exactly my thoughts.
Having to switch to 'wide' style every time sucks for privacy concerned users, because most have session only browser 'cookies' and new potential users just browsing around will not even be aware of alternative page styles.

I had no idea what the reference to a bland monitor meant as I did not get bumped from the wide skin. Don't know why.

Thanks and have now done that - though the thought of clicking on a link with the word "Vice" in it could be a bit of a put-off for anyone who doesn't know what the forum actually does cover (and thus not "vice"!) - and, frankly, how would anyone new know how to change the skin in that way???

IMHO, if anything, the previous logo would be a lot more encouraging to potential new members.

BTW: before I started that new thread, I really did look quite long and hard for this one, but couldn't find it!

I note that the Mobile Site has the architecture of the nature of the new-fangled PWAs (Progressive Web App - Google it if unfamiliar).

Just noticed that, when quoting/replying to a previous post, the icon for you to drop down the list of smilies has disappeared from the default list of commands menu at the top - you then have to click on the central (of the three) "three dots" icon to drop down the alternative list of more icons, including the one for the smilies!

That's "very annoying" - the smilies icon really needs to return to where it was on the default list!

AND that's what I had to do to get to this one ""! - and this one

This is the "bland monitor" - surely something like the original SatsUK icon could replace it????
