I have a motorised system with a Fortec Star Passion HD receiver .. I am thinking of buying a Fransat box next time I visit France (mainly for the rugby on FR4).
Does anyone know if I can use the Fransat stb plugged into the 'output' lnb connector on the back of my Fortec Star when dish is positioned at 5W ?
Thanks

Theoretically shoud be ok if the Fortec box is on a low band vertical transponder.

Once the Passion has driven the dish to 5W, if you then put it in Standby, you should be able to select any Channel (whether Low/High, H/V) with the Fransat box.

Just remember to turn off the Fransat box whenever you want to use the Passion either to view Channels or to position the dish.

And if you have room, you might bung up a Zone 1 Sky dish just for 5W. Probably less hassle in the long run.

The Fransat channels are all on low band vertical according to lyngsat, so having the channel on 5w that you select on the Fortec box on a low band vertical tp should mean there would be no need to turn it off, but it will work either way.

I'm beginning to understand why my analogue box responds only on certain frequencies when I have Fortec switched on...it's obviously something to do with the polarisation and/or frequency of the station that is present on the digital box at that time.. I had often wondered why this happened..thanks

Yep, you got it. With the box in standby, the 2nd receiver is able to take full control of the lnb, the motor too usually, if it were capable ( Fransat likely not)
