GAA final kicks off Irish HD trial

The first terrestrial HD tests have taken place in Ireland as part of the ongoing DTT pilot. Communications minister Eamon Ryan launched the broadcast that took place at the Leinster GAA Football final at Croke Park on Sunday (July 15). “This is a very exciting time for broadcasting in Ireland. We have to adapt and take part in the global broadcasting revolution which is coming with new digital transmission services,” said Ryan.

The trial was organised by RTÉ, TV3 and TG4, CEDA (the Electrical Distributors Association) and BT. From today (July 16) the frequency is broadcasting a showreel of HD content produced by Irish broadcasters.
