hello bro i can help u .......i m already receving hotbird channel in punjab with 10ft dish ...deepbluesky said:Hello everybody,
As i've seen in this forum there are quite a lot of people that know about Hotbird reception in India. I am a technical moderator on the greek satellite forum of http://www.sdtv.gr/forum_index.asp . Lately we got an question from a lady who will move to New Dehli and she would like to watch the greek Nova package of which she has now a subscription running since living still in Greece. My concern is that i am not sure if a reception is at all possible in that area of India and if so with which dish diameter in minimum. I fear that if it is, one might need an expensive 4.50m dish or probably much bigger. In the past i had heard of reception in Mumbai on 4.50m dishes (source Tele Satellite Magazine many years before) and if i am not wrong in Bangalore they achieved also to get something on a 6m dish. I know that in Pakistan the reception of many Widebeam Transponders of Hotbird 2/3/4/6 is possible with solid handmade dishes ranging from 1.80m up to 4m so that's why i have a very little hope that these particular frequencies 10.930H/11.242V/11.823H/12.169H/12.558V/12.597V are also receivable in New Dehli without much signal quality fading depending on day/night, summer/winter time, heat, moisture and so on. The other problem which i see is the very low elevation of 13E in New Dehli which i calculated with Christian Mitius' tool here: http://www.satlex.net/en/azel_calc-params.html?satlo=28.2&user_satlo=13&user_satlo_dir=E&location=28.60%2C77.20&la=28.60&lo=77.20&country_code=in .
It would be very kind of you to tell me your experience and if possible telling me as well which expert should she contact to install such a big dish if allowed or if she still wants to spend such a fortune.
By the way, the original thread in greek is located here: http://www.sdtv.gr/forum_posts.asp?TID=4221&PN=1&TPN=1
Thank you very much for your time and help in advance.
My best regards, Christos Gardikiotis - Stuttgart/Germany
