Hi there,
Not sure if I'm in the correct section, but I want to be able to watch Danish, Icelandic, Swedish and Norwegian TV!

I have a motorised 90cm Dish with a Technomate 7100HD Receiver!

If anyone can help me or advise me then that would be great!!

Cheers
Nicolas

Most of those channels are on 1W or 5E. All you need is a subscription card for the channels you want and a compatible receiver.

Not sure. Possibly one of the forum sponsors. Someone will pop up with the answer in a minute I'm sure.

That's brilliant Huevos - thank you for your info so far!
Just be aware that some of the Beams from 1W and 5W cannot be received reliably with a 90 cm Dish, so if I were you, I'd await further responses before spending money on Subs.

With luck, someone local to you will oblige with a suggestion of a more viable dish size.

Canal Digital Nordic @1W has subscription cards paired to the receiver, ( I believe ) so be careful of buying just a sub. card.

Yes and no.

Each Satellite position has as number of Beams, some of which are strong in the UK, and some that aren't.

I have an 80cm motorised and a 1.1m motorised.

The latter gets more Beams from 1W and 5W than the former, but still not all of them.

And Premium Content tends to be put on Beams that are more focussed on the "host" countries.

That said, many folk in the UK do have access to eg Viasat, but exactly where you are located is a significant factor in determining what the best Dish size is.

You should be OK with a 90cm dish for most SD stuff but you might struggle with HD as they generally require more signal to be watchable.

Yes, because they are 8PSK. Can get most of the SD transponders from 5E here, but nothing from the 8PSK ones.

Some of the Nordic PSB channels open with the softcam SCAM 3.57

I can get a lot of the Nordic PSB channels (including NRK 1 HD) on a Penta 85 here. They are subject to rain fade at times but I reckon it should be doable in Nottingham if I can receive them further south and west...(and yes, SCAM does work)

NRK, DR and SVT from 5E are "soft encrypted" so easily available via softcam/patches at the moment, but only NRK1 is available in HD using this method. 1W requires a pay card I believe (at least this is the case for Finland). I don't know about the Icelandic channels, never been able to view them.

PSB is a TLA (!) for Public Service Broadcasters (eg BBC, ITV, C4 and Five in the UK)

Softcam - just a piece of software loaded onto certain (mainly linux based hobby) receivers. The aforementioned SCAM 3.57 has some of the Nordic channel keys built into it so it automatically decrypts the service.

For a subscription your best bet is a friend or relative in the country whose service you wish to watch. If you have to use a UK based reseller the Nordic services tend to be expensive.
