Hi All,
I am helping a Romanian friend install Digi TV and unforunately I do not understand Romanian. She had a person buy the receiver and card for her in Romania, and she claims that the card was 'activated' by the person who bought it (together they cost around 150 lei). My friend has absolutely no idea about how these things work, so here my question about subscriptions. Is there any way to subscribe to any of the offered packages from outside the country, or is only the original buyer entitled to do so? I'm assuming that payment would only be allowed within the country, i.e. not PayPal or similar.
If no package has yet been bought, will the card receive any channels other than those that are already FTA? Are the receiver and card sold separately from the packages, or does the fact that she has a card mean that she has already subscribed to a package?
I have not yet been able to hook up the box to the dish and see what it does, but it would be very helpful to know what to expect when I do.
Am grateful for any input, cheers.
K

There not really a way to subscribe from outside Romania , they do have a online payment facility but the money must come from a romanian bank account . There might be ways around that though .
Easiest way to keep a subscription running is to have someone there do it for you .
If there is no package on the card that means no subscription therefore a doorstop . No use for them .
If she says theres been an activation than it should work , best to install it first . If the card has been offline for more than a month it need a reactivation with the subscribers details on hand .

As it turns out she erroneously bought a cable receiver, so we are back to square one. I will revive this thread if she ever actually gets her hand on the real thing.
BTW, although it was a cable receiver, the smartcard said "satelit" on it, so are these cards perhaps interchangeable for both cable and satellite?
