Can't tell if the freesat box is faulty or the satellite dish is. Please see attached photo. This is what I see when I try to use the freesat box. Is this called polarisation? If so then I suppose from other info I've read then it probably is the dish and the LNB needs replacing. I can cast ok to the TV using chrome cast. Also if it is the LNB what's a reasonable price someone would charge for replacing an LNB?

Does not appear to a dish or LNB issue as the on-screen display looks corrupt too. Do you have another television or monitor you can connect the Freesat box to? It doesn't need to be connected to the satellite dish as it's just to check if you can see the menus correctly - to work out if it is the box or television that's faulty.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Might be a faulty cable between the box & the TV, or maybe even not firmly attached to one or the other???

^^ What they've both said. The on-screen info is generated by the satellite box (any satellite box in fact) and overlaid on top of any programme video.
So, it could be the satellite box, cable or TV that could be faulty. A different TV and cable are your first steps in finding out what's what.

The HDMI cable was the issue. I took it out and plugged it back in again. I had previously made sure it was rammed home ok and didn't think to unplug it. Cheers.

Moral: always check the "simple things" before suspecting the more complicated (and often expensive!) ones:)
