This reads like pure Trumpism...no more license no more bbc welcome to TV USA...
Trash on all channels, pay 5x more to get "quality"
I agree ,presently the BBC seems to be ,well, in a deeply starved up situation,a wartime kind of TV!
Isn t the Boris team gradually killing it?
I d like to know WHY they keep repeating shows & not producing much, the reason for this is the main point,
NOT saving 11£ and 50p a month
One could save much more cooking at home, cycling, walking etc...
That s a wrong target, methinks
The Germans, and us french are happy with public channels ,only our local fascists want public tv out...
You are missing the point, nobody should have to pay to watch free to air TV under the threat of a criminal record.
What has Boris to do with the BBC....? absolutely nothing, the government is not able to control the BBC at all
What Trump has to do with it defeats me.
People should be allowed to choose to pay for the BBC or not, they should not be forced into paying for it, especially when the BBC are so anti-British, anti-Brexit, anti-monarchy.

well, the BBC people have probably kept a sense of honour,
which the Trumpist ideology is making a lot of politicians all over the free world lose ,along with their cultural bearings.
The BBC people may be out of fashion, but to me they represent...well,Britain as it 's always been, solid and conservative, respectful of cultural values, often a little boring but rock solid...the opposite of what Trump and his sevitor Boris Johnson's agendassem to be(quick money)
Why is it that the word "Commonwealth" is never mentioned in the brexit gobbledygook? I wonder, I waa waa waa wonder...
What would the Beatles have thought of such misery?

I modestly think you are right about this:there should not be a menace of a criminal record

It should be part of your taxes as a "culture" expense like the British Museum,Royal Albert Hall etc....
Nobody questions the money spent oin the Commonwealth Games or the British council...
Why wouldn t the BBC be on that same money line?
The National Trust could join with its knowledge...
Then the "licence hunters " woiuld disappear.
We don't have them here, the licence comes with the tax bill.Just a TV tax.
And well,Trumpism is big in the US Conservative party, the Republicans
And British conservative politics have been strongly under US influence lately,
Trump LOVES Nigel Farage and his Brexit show...so!

Again you appear to be of touch with reality, the BBC is NOT representative of Britain and British values, otherwise despite only 38% of Brits identifying as Christians the BBC would have a Christian Head of Religious broadcasting whereas in reality despite only 9% identifying as other religions yet we have had a Muslim in charge of religious programming for over a decade.

My objections are more to do with the grossly obscene wages paid to existing millionaire superstar footballers and the like. The BBC license fee does not go towards the Commonwealth Games or the British Council? What have those to do with the price of fish?

Another objection is to the lack of accountability of the BBC to anyone but themselves. Even their complaints procedures (which are designed to deflect and or ignore) are written and administered by BBC management or the one's moved into Capita which is supposedly independent, as there is zero accountability to the paying public and none to the government.

Nigel Farage is not and has never been conservative so am unsure of your point in the context of this thread?

Finally, this thread is delving into politics now and that is forbidden on open forum so I will discuss with my colleagues if this can be moved off the open forum but until that happens the thread will remain closed.
