Hi All,

I'm looking for a box that can unlock Freesat's epg, I recently purchased the latest Freesat 4K receiver from the Freesat website however I was unimpressed about the lack of channels such as Channel 4 HD, Freesports and CNN HD. As well as channel region locking, for example only being able to receive BBC London Radio when putting in a London postcode. During the process of having the box the lnb on my dish was switched from a wideband lnb to a universal lnb, after this switch happened I lost most of the channels even after doing a re-scan. Despite the fact that in the manual provided with the box it says it can handle both wideband and regular lnb transmissions. I then put the box into non-freesat mode and this broke the receiver completely and I had to return it.

I'm looking for a receiver that can handle the following:

Freesat EPG
4K channels
CI+ Modules (I dont think theres many receivers out there that have this capability)

Thanks

Any Engima 2 receiver will do the job with cross epg plugins as a decent fta pvr.

I thought CI+ Modules are not used in the UK on Astra2?

I'm surprised you couldn't get CNN HD.
Did you include the non-FreeSat group in the scanning options ?

I've seen with the Freesat 4K that if you change LNB type (e.g. universal to wideband or SCR) then a factory reset may be required.

A factory reset did not do the trick, its a strange one to be honest but I wasn't happy with the box anyway

Switching between the two was a painful process in itself. When I switched from non Freesat to Freesat I had to put in my postcode and do a new scan. This lost whatever settings I had set previously, channels that I had set to hidden displayed again. Really annoying

Thanks, is it just E2 receivers that have the Freesat EPG capability?

CI+ is not needed in the UK but I might use the box for picking up French tv, not sure yet.

Will any receiver with a common interface slot be able to read a Fransat Cam?

For example: Dr.HD D15

About freesat full epg, works out of the box (no plugin \ network) on my vu's \ openpli, am 'guessing' all e2 receivers \ images does that.

Edit: and (if one does not already know this) all gathered epg data is saved to disk (or usb) at power off, immediately available at power on.

No, generally a receiver would have to have a CI+ common interface slot for a Fransat CAM.
