Good evening Gentleman I wonder if this problem is common ?

Loosing channels on a Technomate TM5402 SW Version 1.38P

I have had the receiver for few weeks, I had the same problem once before, no idea how I cleared it that time.

Switched on today it was on Samara TV Nilesat which is a weak one, normal signal level.

Tried other channels of which only a few worked at normal signal levels.

Tried other satellites, nothing, some had the odd channels working.

Changed to the other output on the LNB no chance.

Tried a Viper 4k on the other LNB output to scan one of the sats that did not work, all OK.

Checked all leads, but it would have affected Samara on Nilesat if there had been a problem.

All headings correct on dish as I have cameras on scales to check the settings.

Did a factory reset re-set and loaded the channels from the saved file on the hard drive, no difference.

Unplugged the unit re connected the old Technomate MK1 all ok.

Reconnected the MK3 all ok.

Next time it happens I will try turning the power off.

God Bless Spiff

Pop the top off & see if there are bulging capacitors in the power supply area. I had some odd issues shortly before my original TM expired with cap failure.

Thank you for your reply I forgot to say it is brand new and a MK3 : )

It will have been in stock for a while so posible, but if it is a hardware problem, I had beter not break the seals as it will have to be returned.

You should be able to reflash it easily enough to test if its a firmware problem, although its more likely to be hardware. You could also try using a different lnb to see if its just not liking the lnb for some reason.

It is made the more difficult because it is intermittent.

A swap of the LNB from the new Inverto white twin, to the old single Inverto Black when the channels disappear could prove the fault.

I used the Technomate MK1 on the single black for years, never tried it on the twin as the new receiver came then the new LNB.

I used the old channel list from the MK1 then did a blind scan on all the sats.

Flashing as you sugest is worth a try.

Good evening Analoguesat.

It failed twice again today on both feeds, on separate coaxial, to separate different receivers.

Refitting the old single output LNB restored the signal, so have messaged the seller for a replacement.

Thank for your interest : )

Ive seen a receiver do this a couple of times over the years - I spent a most frustrating weekend many years ago trying to figure out why a newly erected dish was giving weird results. Yup it was a wonky lnb. Which worked fine with other receivers - just not that particular one! I ended up describing the receiver as "allergic" to that particular lnb. Completely unscientific but accurate :D

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
From my limited experience, the BLACK version of the Inverto Twin (on 2 different dishes) hasn't caused any similar issues with either of my M5402 M3's or the 2x SX88's - the "White" Inverto Twin is almost certainly the "poorer man's" version of that LNB.,

I had a Black on order from Ireland which never arrived, so I ordered the White from a UK seller, who said though he had never sold the Black he thought they were similar ?

It gave the same quality level as the single Black it replaced.

I can only hope any replacement works.

I had assumed it was a faulty unit rather than a compatibility problem, as it failed intermittently, at the same time with the same channels on both receivers of different make, from the two LNB feeds.

Suppliers "don't like" having to take back faulty products, and so they often"delay" doing that for as long as possible:rolleyes:. Your legal consumer rights give you the right to return such products - so press them hard!

EBay have set the return automatically to accept, they do that after you have positive feed back for a period of time.

The seller has to send a post paid label which they so far have not, it is a mater of waiting, if they ignore it PayPal will refund.

The problem is we are left waiting, I see the seller operates from a private address, or so Google Earth says.

The way to win customers is to respond quickly when things go wrong, we have been in business since 1970 and know that casting your bread on the waters is the way to go : )

If the supplier does not "want" to replace/refund a faulty product after you have requested that then you have to wait 7 full days before you can formally "press the point" with Ebay.

Never had a problem getting a refund with eBay, I prefer to buy online with them as they are there if things go wrong.

I have a splitter device that looking inside was possibly to split horizontal and vertical signals ?

If I remove the internal bits and fit a single output LNB to each port, will the signal level be lower than using one twin output LNB ?

I am wondering if it is for circular polarization, it seams a pity to wreck it removing the innards, but is it of any use as it is ?

No, that is a IRTE OMT for horizintal/vertical polarizations. Don't remove the giblets.

Hallo Channel Hopper, as LNBs have their own voltage switching now, I summarised it was not a lot of use as it is.

In the same box that was donated to me, there are old 120 type LNBS that have separate vertical and horizontal outputs. again not a lot of use now ?

I do not like to destroy things, but if I removed the giblets : ) could it be used to feed two single output voltage switch able LNBS. ?

This would save me from getting another twin output one, as the seller of my faulty one is not responding.

EBay will refund, so I could purchase another single output LNB and use the other single output one I already have to provide feeds for two receivers : )

Would the addition of the splitter attenuate the signal ?

Thank you for your time : )

What do you mean by 'single output voltage switch able LNBS.' ?

I mean an LNB with just a single coaxial socket, to feed one receiver.

The type we use now that require two different voltages from the receiver, to switch horizontal and vertical signals.

As image.

One on each port after removing the giblets : )

I could then feed two receivers, one from each one.

With one of those on each port of the OMT, you will only get the lower and upper bands on a single polarity.

You could try turning the feed 45 dgrees to get signal from both , but you would lose at least half of the incoming signal.

If you have a quattro (or a quad ) LNB, you can use certain dSCR switches on legacy ports, discussed in another section of the forum.
