Not even being able to spell "Maths" correctly is worrying.

All signals returning to earth from the lander were swamped by a spike in the EM radiation from a location called Las Vegas in the Arizona desert where high levels of verbal diarrhoea were detected overnight o_O:-applause

So we now know:

- the parachute jettisoned too early
- the rockets fired for a few seconds instead of the 30 seconds or so expected

Science & Environment - BBC News

Ergo its now splattered all over the face of Mars & we have a new crater.....

:(

You have to feel sorry for the scientist whose wind measuring experiment was carried on Beagle 2 & now 13 years later it was onboard Schiaparelli.......

I feel sorry for the martian who had just built his house with a lovely view to the canal. He might be able to construct a tent out of the parachute.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Is it just me, or is there a common theme with non-NASA probes ending up crashing into Mars? Food for the conspiracy nuts I suppose... :-lmao

Shirley, those comments also apply to NASA probes sent to Mars, in 1999 they had two different teams working on the project, one using American units of measurement and another using metric measurements and forgot to put in a conversion interface DOH:-buttkick

ExoMars is a $1.4 billion enterprise – to justify that cost, researchers must maximize the mission’s scientific returns. That’s why location is everything. Schiaparelli will target a generalized landing site – relatively flat, ellipse-shaped and about 60 miles across – on Mars’s Meridiani Planum.

Sad for all those involved in the work. As a note, my father was chief engineer at ESRO in the 60's and 70's, with responsability for all the buildingwork (tracking stations etc).

Not to be negative (rather realistic), but imagine the future newslines when all the first batches of Musk disciples (cobayes) are fried or crushed ;O) (ref Elon Musk Charts Path to Colonizing Mars Within a Decade)

According to that map william-1 posted earlier it looks like the bulls-eye was on the Opportunity lander :D
