Hey guys, is there such thing as a tool or software that can simulate a satellite? For example, I could take the receiver to my house and plug it into my computer and pre-tune the receiver and whilst I’m at it, be able to delete dead TPs/channels?

just an idea.. as I know I won’t be able to scan frequency’s to update channels if I don’t have a dish but if there were some type of hot bird simulator, you could essentially trick receivers into thinking there was a strong signal and then tune all the channels with a perfect signal and then bring the receiver back.

I haven’t had a chance as of yet as I’m debating whether to take the receiver home with me for a day to do it or to bite the bullet and do it with the receiver plugged in, which will take hours!

if I take it home then at least I’ll be able to test the channel editor as well as go through updated HD channel frequencies and make sure everything is good before bringing it back to her... otherwise I’ll be going back and forth...

You won't be able to do that, your best bet will be to do a full scan of Eutelsat 13E/Hotbird while the dish is connected, then when you take the receiver home to use the channel editor software with an as up-to-date-as-possible channel list.

To make this easier it might be worth looking in the receiver menus if you can wipe the channel list completely before tuning, to remove any dead channels before tuning.

the latest sab emu firmware has Tivusat based on provider 183E , I believe the new 4K card is using provider 183D, so the internal smart card reader won't open the new provider unless sab comes up with a new firmware fixing it ..the other side if you have sab titan III box and tivusat cam with your card using the sab emu firmware version that should work as sab emu is Ci+ capable ..good luck ;)

Thanks, I am going to do this, I’ve had to buy a usb to com cable so I can plug it into my computer. This seems the easiest way forward, at least I’m not going back and forth..

Debating if I should delete everything and rescan as you mentioned, not sure if I’m able to delete channels as I sort them from the AliEditior software, does anyone know? Haven’t been able to play around with it as I don’t yet have the cable to be able to download a dump abs file to play with.

As far as I know, any editor will also enable deleting, aside from sorting.
And also allow adding transponders, satellites, rename satellites and program names, etc. etc.
Make and edit favorites lists.
And maybe more...

I know the OP was a while ago but weve had the same issue, but we have a gold card and cam which worked perfectly up until around the time of this post. My long term investigation threw up the following. 1) Tivusat are moving all HD channels from DVB-S to DVB-S2 by June 2022. Its already started with RAI 1-3 among a few others. Our original TV was only DVB-S, so we upgraded to a nice shiny new UHD/4K that had like our old Sony a built in Sat tuner and CI+ slot But with support for the newer DVB-S2. The new install was this weekend, setup the TV, and we still can’t watch RAI1-3 and a few others I can’t recall. The channels are present with good signal strength and epg data, but nothing on screen, just blackness if we select them. Really scratching our heads now and wondering if we need to buy the new UHD/4K card to get back the key channels. Note SD ones will be turned off next summer So whil we can watch those now, they Will be gone Soon enough.

If I remember the conclusion was the CAM module (the thing the card is inserted into) wasn't compatible with the newer version of encryption used by the HD channels. I do not know if changing the CAM alone will work. Do you have a photo of the CAM module you are currently using?

Yup quite a few channels showing either english films/programs with either alt audio in Italian or subtitles. My wife is Italian and I'm trying to learn so I tend to stick to the core ones RAI1-3. Loved the Discovery Food one but that vanished a while back and haven't managed to find it again.

Ummm discounted that idea previously given as I understand it when you register your card it is locked to the cam ad infinitum so would probably struggle to change the cam over to another. But taken the plunge and ordered a UHD/4K card/cam from Italy which should arrive this week and all being well it will work and add the 4k channels too. Looking to update my Mother in laws very old set-up as she has lost a few channels already and will loose all of them over the next few months (Christmas present time). Have a Vu+ Duo which had the same issue as our TV with respect to the HD channels so may just pick up a Strong SRT 7807 and HD card/cam for her as that appears to work well and more to the point is basic enough not to confuse her which the Vu+ would likely do if I got it working.

I believe card pairing is only possible with CI+ CAMs.

This thread might give relevant info + links on tivusat cards and CAMs: Help Required - Tivusat HD Channels

I would think gold cards would still work, even without a cam?
But I haven't read back all that was written....

Going by Tivusats website they say all HD cards are guaranteed to work but clearly something is amiss for the new DVB-S2 HD channels to stop working even with the same gold card which worked previously. Have tried re-activating but that's made no difference. Was thinking of picking up a gold card on eBay for my mother-in-law but given the issues I've had and seen elsewhere probably safest to buy new.

So at the moment with your new TV you receive no programms at all, from the encrypted Tivusat package?

I can view most channels just not RAI1-3 (HD) and a few others like Premium HD. They worked fine when we first got the card then RAI started changing things over to DVB-S2 and at that point we lost them. Our new Tivusat UHD/4K card should arrive tomorrow so that should sort it all out.

Is this switch to HD a danger of losing the FTA rai 123,storia,scuola on Hotbird?
Or just modernisation of home service for Italy?

If you can see most of those channels, your decryption works. So that is not the problem.

Are you receiving any of the HD-channels, that are listed in my link? (If not, HD might be the problem...)

I’m sure I read somewhere that the plan for the eventual SD switch-off would be that the HD versions of Rai 1-3 would end up having the same FTA windows as a direct replacement.

That would make sense in the context of lots of cable and IPTV networks across Europe carrying those partially FTA SD versions.
