HI, I'm Sundancer and I'm a Cable TV Field Engineer from Dartmouth in Nova Scotia. Decided to look here to figure out if their is anything i can do with the old Bell Satellite dish i have on the back of my house, as pretty much all TV here is Pay to View, other than the three Free to air channels we can get through a pair of rabbit ears.

Just looking through the forum for any pointers.

Hello and welcome Sundancer. We'll do our best but bear in mind that a lot of our members are Europe based.

Hello everyone,
I am Stéphane and I live in the south-west of France. I have a little bit of material to satisfy my hobby, the satellite reception.
For the moment in Ku-band, I hope one day to finish the restoration and the installation of my motorized satellite dish (180 cm) in C-band ...

My Satellite Setup
I will setup new system
My Location
Twickenham - London
Hello All,

My name is Ozgur. I have just signed up today and wanted to say hi.
Currently I am in the process of relocating to London from Istanbul/Turkey.
I have a basic 2 dish (80cm) setup for Turksat(42E) and Hotbird(13E) connected to a Dreambox 800se HD receiver back at home.

I am planning to setup a new system in UK as well so I hope to get your help on this matter.
I am investigating the options to have a Diseqc1.2/Usuals motorized dish in UK. I know that it is quite challenging to setup one and it may be challenging to keep it stabile in longterm. Also according to my initial research, Turksat is quite low in the horizon from UK so it may be extra difficult to receive it with a motorized system as it will need extra precision.

I will be also interested if you can recommend me for alternate solutions and any experienced place for this kind of setup around Richmond & Twickenham area.

Best regards...

Hello Ozgur and welcome to the forum. You probably won't get a reply for your problems here so better post the questions in the proper categories.

As Paul R said, you need to ask the detailed questions in the appropriate category of questions - which is probably this one Satellite Systems - What to Buy - What to install

However, you should have little trouble in receiving Turksat at 42E with an 80cm dish in the Richmond & Twickenham area - I live a few miles North of there, and have no trouble in getting a strong signal from it on a cheap 80cm fixed dish.

hi all - just getting back into sats after many many years - think analogue80's stuff last time used - radio ham - G6URM - interest reignited by the new geostationary sat carrying amateur transponders - 10 GHz down - 2 GHz uplink - narrow band SSB and ATV - so really just getting kit together and researching atm - but nice to have the sat tv back as well - but where have all the "naughty " game shows gone ?? - used to be one on the old analogue channels of a night time - german i think - never did understand the rules of it but better than the game shows on bbc /itv at the time .............. but i suppose in these pc time i'd better not revisit those times .lmao - still even have my old analogue box a uniden- 8008 - which i did use for 23 cm atv years ago then it got put in the loft - any hoo - the forum proving very informative

Welcome to the forum brett301, yes the rules of those European late night game shows were very loose as were the skimpy clothes of the competitors, I no idea where those gameshows went, enjoy your time here

Hiya, I'm based in Fife & hoping I've come to the right place.
I'm going to set up a satellite system for my van & house.
I have zero experience doing this so will be asking lots of questions, hoping I can understand the answers!
