Hi

I've recently purchased a Nikkai 5.8gGHz Wireless A/V Sender to use with my Dreambox DM800HD Receiver which is connected via a DVI(DM800HD) to HDMI(TV) cable which works perfectly fine.

I have a TV in the Loft two floors up from the lounge and would like watch output from DreamBox from time to time so i bought a Nikkai 5.8gGHz Wireless A/V Sender. I've connected the power adaptor, IR extender and 3.5mm stereo plug to the Transmitter....The other end of the stereo plug is a scart AV cable which is connected to the only scart connection on the DreamBox.

Next I've connected the power adaptor and 3.5mm stereo plug to the Receiver....The other end of the stereo plug is a scart AV cable which is connected to TV in the loft.

When I select the input source on the TV there is no picture or sound also I can't change the channel either.

Can anyone provide some help please.

Many Thanks in Advance.

Kind Regards
Sonny

You might be out of range for the A/V sender, try it at the TV close by the DreamBox to see if you have it configured correctly, 2 floors up may be too far for that device.

Thanks Terry I tried it at the TV close to the DreamBox and there was nothing so checked cables which were OK, next I checked the Channel selection which looked OK but on further investigation the transmitter was on ch8(all switches down) and receiver was on ch1(all switches up)....I know schoolboy error!

So I now have picture and sound....Next step was to move the receiver in the loft where the TV is and after some fiddling around with the antenna i get both picture and sound however its not the best as goes off and on along with the sound. At the moment i'm using channel 8 on both transmitter and receiver....Is it a case of just finding the right channel to get a better picture or do you think the distance is too far?

Many Thanks in advance

If you are getting dropouts the distance is probably too far. However try the various channels and see how you get on.

Hi
I have a Nikaai Mini 5.8ghz sender just bought from Maplins. Set up was very easy and worked immediately with excellent signal for sound and vision. However remote control has proved more problematic. It is working but only about once in about 20 or 30 goes - creates a it on panic when fast forwarding programmes on Sky Plus as its russian roulette whether it is going to stop ffd at end of adverts. I have the extender positioned perfectly right in front of the IR receiver on the sky + HD Box (Samsung I think).
Does anyone have any suggestions for improving performance of the remote control.
Thanks. V Grateful.

Help. I have the transmitter connected to a sky hd box via the scart. The second TV set does not have a scart outlet so the receiver is connect via a 3RCA phono cable. The TV does not have an AV/Composite source option, just DVD, Video, HDMI, Freeview etc. Cannot get it to work at all. What a frustrating product.

Try selecting the Video channel or DVD on the TV (if it has no built in DVD player) *** on the back where the wires plug into the TV it should tell you the name for that input, on my TV it says Side AV on the back so I know to choose the Side AV on the source select

Also make sure that the channels on the receiver and the transmitter are both set the same (i.e. all up/all down/2 end up, 2 middle down)

Thanks, but done and done. It is in video and I've tried every channel there is. There is no light on the transmitter when switched on however like there is on the receiver... Should there be?

Try swapping the transformers round, the transmitter might need more power/amps than the receiver and if you have them mixed up the transmitter might not power up (hence no light on TX)

I have just returned a Lindy wireless extender with 5.8gGHz signal. 3 m through 2 walls and it was useless. yet my Virgin router reaches 10 metres through the same 2 walls.
This may help.
