Hello,
I bought an Aston Simba HD Fransat receiver on ebay, and have since bought what appears to be a new Fransat card from an online want-ad service in France. All the Fransat TNT stations function fine except for TFI, A2, M6, Arte in HD.
The original Fransat blurb provided with the card claims it to be a "carte d'access conditionnel". Is this an older generation of cards that cannot handle HD? In small print at the bottom of the brochure "les chaines en haute definition sont disponibles uniquement avec le pack FRANSAT HD".
Thanks in advance for your help.

So you're saying the specific card may, or may not, allow for HD reception? I can't find any google evidence of this, although it may well be true.

Well having just seen this Thread for the first time, it seems the answer is in your opening Post: You have a "Fransat" Card, but the relevant HD Channels are only available with a "Fransat HD" Card. So you don't have the right Card. The small print is quite clear.

As for Conditional Access, that is nothing specifically to do with SD or HD .......... it's a generic term for many Cards ie they interface with the Receiver through a CAM.

If you have a Linux box running cccam you can check which card it is there.

The HD card will be a 0500:041950. I think the old SD one is a 0500:041900.

My Fransat card which opens the HD channels is a 0500:041950 card.

hi,

very simple to know the diffrences between fransat cards there are 3 kinds
Fransat SD=prov 041900 (without any indication)
prov 041910(when activating BISTV thru fransat)
Fransat HD=prov 041950 (with HD logo on the cards face)
Fransat Pro=prov 0419A0 (with the word PRO on it)

some crafty E bay sellers keep the HD card and swap it with SD than sell it as a pack with HD decoders ...so beware !! most of these bandits use the HD cards in CS servers ,just to add since last week Fransat introduced the new Fransat Cam

This is the kind of detailed information I was looking for, cheers.

Based on your comment just found this:

_http://geosat.fr/la-boutique/Produit/673/69/offres-speciales-geosat/module-tnt-par-satellite-fransat-pour-tv-hd-dvb-s-ci.html

a bit pricey, but I suppose they are the only ones offering a cam with the proper software for Fransat? Hopefully the price will drop soon...
I also just happen to have a Samsung TV with DVB-S2 tuner.
