by mounting the small receptor that I removed from our previous apartment building

With receptor you mean the LNB?

You never answered the question of @ozumo of what was on the label of the previous LNB.
It might be a Unicable/JESS LNB (explaining why you hadn't got reception), so I was waiting for the answer to that....

(Sometimes it helps, answering all the questions that helpers here ask. I must confess, there are questions from which I don't see the relevance (at first, or at all). But sometimes they turn out to be really very relevant, indeed.)

Well done Berwick, will still be interesting to try and work out why the other dish wasn't producing the goods though.:)

By receptor I meant the equivalent of the dish (aerial) but small and rectangular.
I dismounted the old dish today and had a good look at the LNB but all the marking were completely worn away by the weather so, no help there unfortunately.
As far as I'm concerned the TV receives what I, and more importantly the Wife, wants to watch and that's the end of the story.
Thanks again.
