Quick question

Is there a button on the remote that downscales the HDMI resolution ?

I've acquired one of these and - I believe - it is currently locked to UHD output, so the screeen shows 'not supported'.

I really don't want to reflash until I've seen something from satellite.

If it has WebIF you may be able to change the settings from there.

Thanks. I've downloaded open8 (latest today) firmware, and managed to blind navigate through the boot menu to get it to display a screen.

Will report back, but it is a really weird animal as it is attempting to scan services below the lower IF limit on 26 East.

OK, first impressions.

Loving the machine, the Open8 package is doing its job.

All tests passed,
I suspect the blind scan was never implemented as it would have made the SF8008 redundant.

I seem to recall some historic discussion about the lack of availability of blind scan for one of the Octagon E2 models?
Never resolved by Octagon for the SF4008 apparently but easily implemented in the SF8008. Looks like a deliberate marketing ploy?

I think Octagon tried to pass the blame for the missing blind scan back to the factory they commissioned to manufacture the receiver?
Octagon never owned up to it being their fault even though the receiver had their name on it.

I will post some imagery later of the internals, it looks very much like the AZ premium layout (but not with that unique dual voltage supply)

Giblets.

The build quality is streets ahead of the 8008.

I've just realised (quiet at the back !) this 4008 has a twin terrestrial tuner , a TT3L10 which I am lead to believe is a NIM design.
The 4008 has one output as male coax, the other as a female fit, plus the legend on the rear is marked for DVB-S stuff.

Does anyone have the full specifications of the device as I think I can use it for a specific project. I've looked but no site I have found provides them, possibly as it is obsolete. I believe it was used in the VUPlus and Giga Blue range of 4K recveivers.

Thanks in advance
