It depends if WoS flash OpenViX into one of the vacant multiboot slots or if they overwrite the default factory image which is probably OpenATV.
There are four slots available in the SF8008, each slot can accept an image. The multiboot function allows the user to boot the receiver from a choice of four different images, subject to all four slots being populated.
Thanks Moonbase.
I asked WOS that same question & they tell me then could put Vix in one of the other slots & set up multi boot for me.

The back left is Tuner A but the two sat tuners are marked S2 so no indication from looking at them from the outside.
They show in the Menus as Tuner A & Tuner B.

It sounds like you have the Twin DVB-S2X tuner model.
Both tuners have identical functionality, simply connect up the LNB cable to one of them and configure that one in the Tuner settings for the satellites you need.

Yes that's what I have.
I'm only using one of the tuners at the moment. The Vix firmware shows which tuner is connected.

Just in case you have not discovered it, the default SR range selection in OpenViX is 2-45 if I remember correctly? The image can cope with 1-60 if you wish to expand the range.

Didn't realise that.
How do I expand the range.
Thanks.

Scroll down to the SR line in the blind scan menu or the manual scan menu and use the remote control to enter whatever range of SR you want to scan with.
The limits are 1000 to 60000 or as presented in the menu 1 to 60.

Changed it to 1 to 60 no problem.
Can I ask what program do you use to download the channel lists from the receiver ?
I'm trying E Channelizer but I'm having trouble logging in to the receiver.

Dreambox Edit is one I have used in the past, I have never tried E Channeliser.
It connects to the box over your local network so you might need to find out the LAN IP address of the SF8008.

I tried Dreambox Edit.
I set the ip address I got from the receiver.
Under Test Ip connection Dreambox Edit successfully connects to the receiver on the Ip address I entered.
But when I Test User name & password Dreambox Edit throws up an error.
"Could not log into the Dreambox with user name root & password"
I'm using user name root & leaving password blank.
Any ideas.

Some images require a password to be set, I think it is OpenATV v6.4 and onwards but not sure about OpenViX.
Also, there might be a setting in the menus to allow LAN access, possibly in the Network settings somewhere, again it might be image dependent.

Firstly, set a root password rather than leaving it blank and try to connect to the SF8008.
If that fails, check for a setting that enables/disables LAN access.

Also, you could check if the LAN connectivity is working with Filezilla or any FTP program.
If access is enabled and the login credentials are correct, Filezilla will be able to connect tp the SF8008 and provide a folder listing of the E2 system.

I'll try those ideas tomorrow.

I just tried it with a simple password in the receiver & repeated on Dreambox Edit & it worked first time.
Now all I have to do is learn how to use Dreambox edit
Thanks for your help on this moonbase.

Hello Everyone.

I am trying to put Ipvanish Vpn in the SF8008 with Vix but I'm struggling.
I understand I need OpenVpn in the receiver but I have no idea where to start ?
I can log into the receiver & view the files with Filezilla but I'm lost after that ?
I understand that some Enigma2 image have OpenVpn in system plugins but I can see it in Vix or among the plugins that can be downloaded ?

I would appreciate some help from someone who knows about these things.

Thanks.
Tony.

Did you try the Plugins section and activate the Download option from within Plugins?
Open up and check all of the sections after downloading to see if it is in one of them?

Or, you might need a *.ipk file or a *tar.gz file for ipvanish.

If it is an *.ipk file then FTP it to the temp folder of the E2 file system and install it as a local extension
If it is a *tar.gz file you can install it from the temp folder using a telnet command.

Tried them all but nothing.

Which version of Openvix do you have loaded?

When I did a quick internet search, Install VPN in Openvix, most articles state it's already in the menu:

This instructions was created based on our customer’s feedback and it was based on Vu+ Duo2 with OpenVix which has a built in add-on for OpenVPN.

To check on this, use the remote control of your box, press the Menu button and navigate to Setup -> System -> Network -> OpenVPN.

Code:

Found it but not under the above.
It was under Setup / Network /Utilities / Open Vpn.
Current status is Stopped.
I have enabled Auto Start.

My box is running Vix 5.4.001

How do I get IpVanish Vpn into the box ?
I'm not well up in Enigma2 software, just learning as I go along.

Regards.
Tony.
