are sitting in my office doing not a lot. Very well made inside and out.

They came out of various house upgrades over the years, where residents have no longer required the cable services, moving to localised ISPs or onto satellite/telephony.

As you know I hate throwing things out unless they are beyond resurrection, so I'm looking for a use.

I have thought they might serve a purpose for ham radio users, that have a transceiver and separate radio scanner on the same aerial, though the ones I know are never keen on putting 75Ohm designed kit into 50Ohm circuitry.

So, what can they be used for , apart from landfill ?

They would work great for TV antenna surge protection, but a one time shot if it was lightning....But I dont see a ground lug if used for a TV antenna.

I had a SDR radio as a present. Only just connected it all up and it will take me ages to figure it all out. When I moved the satellite dish down to a lower level there was a spare cable which I used for a Scanking Discone antenna. Not sure if the above is of use for sdr as I use a coax coupler box with an earth tag.

I currently use a discone (very similar, if not identical to the Scanking) for the 2m club frequency. It does work down to the low HF bands, though I have only really connected it up to test some kit for functionality here, Kenwood TH-F7 and as of late a Malahit Chinese receiver. I should have wired it to the desktop that has the Nooelectric stuff inside but too busy to do so with current work.

I will be finishing off the horizontal long wire thing at some point this month, if it ever stops raining, then I can have a decent play with the lower frequencies since the copper ground stake will now have bedded into the cat litter nicely.
