CCTV 9 is at 28e, not CCTV4.

If you are not keen on fiddling with dishes, you can get a dish that receives 28e, 23.5e, 19e and Hotbird 13e with one cable to the receiver. Search for the Technisat Multytenne.

we suddenly stopped receiving CCTV 4 and PCNE still worked. we didnt know what the problem was and went out to get a new dish. now we installed it and are able to pick up CCTV 4 but not PCNE. now i dont know much about satellites and stuff but is it possible that one of the satellite moved to a different location and thats why we suddenly stopped receivng CCTV 4 in the beginning?

No.

The Satellites haven't moved.

What has changed is the Satellite your dish is aligned to.

You have it on Hotbird at 13E.

The reason for the confusion is that you are selecting 28E on your Receiver, but the dish is aligned to 13E ..... so you will only receive signals from the Satellite your dish actually is aligned to.

Many Satellite positions use similar frequencies and other parameters, so the stored "28E" table in your Receiver is only valid if your dish is also at 28E.

As it clearly isn't , when you try to use 28E data, all you will get is Channels from the Satellite the dish really is aligned to (Hotbird in this case), and even then only if the frequencies etc. of those Channels match similar data for 28E.

You need to move your Dish another 15 degrees or so further east and also reduce the elevation two or three degrees.

But, as stated in a previous Post, CCTV4 is not (and never has been) a 28E Channel anyway. CCTV9 is, however.

Yes, it is quite possible.

Stations often move around with no warning, something that causes great annoyance to viewers who have to move the dish to point at another satellite or call out someone to do it for them.

Tivù is right, you will have to move the dish around, further east.

Yes.

That's because CCTV4 is on Hotbird, which is where your dish is aligned to.

CCTV4 isn't available on 28E, so getting a specialist to align to 28E won't help you get CCTV4!

On 28E you will find CCTV9 and PCNE, however.

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record (and I have carefully read the entire Thread several times):

CCTV4 has never been broadcast from 28E

However, CCTV9 is broadcast from 28E

The list of channels you claimed to be getting earlier in the Thread proves conclusively and beyond doubt that your Satellite dish is currently aligned to Hotbird at 13E, not to Astra2/Eurobird1 at 28E.

Hotbird at 13E is one of a small number of Satellites that do carry CCTV4

PCNE is broadcast from 28E but not from Hotbird.

Therefore, it is not possible for you to receive CCTV4 and PCNE with a single fixed dish aligned either to 28E or to Hotbird.

Is it possible that what you previously had was CCTV9 and PCNE? That would certainly have been possible if your dish was aligned to 28E ................... But CCTV4 and PCNE would not have been.

The things that stick out are called an LNB. Two would be connected to a diseqc switch and the receiver would be able to switch between satellites automatically.

Alternatively you could consider a Technisat Multytenne which does the same thing, receiving four satellites on one dish.

Yes, sorry I forgot to answer the specific point about two dishes or one dish with two lumpy things!

Either approach will work.

Still can't figure out how you had both previously but in order to eliminate ambiguity and potential for confusion, let's move on and talk about how to get you sorted out in order to satisfy what it is you actually do want.

i am sure we received CCTV 4 and PCNE. because CCTV 9 is mostly english and my parents cannot understand english.

Again I repeat: CCTV4 has never been on 28E: PCNE has never been anywhere but 28E.

So the only way you could have had both is by using a dish with at least two LNBs suitable positioned on a multi-bracket, by having two dishes, or by use of a motorised dish.

Can't escape the facts I'm afraid.

You will find that any and every listings site will confirm what I and others have been saying.

And further searching with your favourite Engine will reveal no cause to believe the current situation is new.

However, bearing in mind your comment about the language, I have to wonder if there is not some key piece of info missing from this debate - It's a pity you can't post a piccy of your previous dish (or can you ............ from your albums?) as it might tell us something that hasn't come to light so far!

Well there is the key bit of missing info ................

If you have two LNBs on a bracket, the dish can be installed so that it effectively receives two satellite positions simultaneously. Sounds like that is how your old dish was set up.

But this is a fiddly installation to get right and also requires DiSEqC settings to be applied to the receiver and a DiSEqC switch fitted near to the dish.

If you have a pic of the old and can take one of the new, we might be able to make progress.

Ahem - It might have helped if this had been spelled out at the beginning! :D
