The Premier League is to request a court order forcing internet service providers to block a popular football streaming website before the next season.

The League wants ISPs to cut off access to FirstRow1.eu, which operates from Sweden.

The BBC understands none of the ISPs plan to challenge the court order.

If successful, the action will be the first sport-related site block in the UK.

Not really surprised that they're pushing for this, there will I'm sure be more to follow, there are already blocks on some Torrent sites.

The FAPL will prevail in the end, they simply must protect their (obscenely high) income, and that of certain satellite service providers. Can't blame them, it is their property.
Soon all live sport will be back behind a paywall. It used to be a stadium/venue turnstile, now it's video encryption.

It's a daft business across the board - I mean, how on earth did top Footballers ever come to be "worth" such obscene and disproportionate amounts in wages and transfer fees? And where does that money come from ......................

It comes from the fans who are daft enough to pay the high gate prices for entry into the stadiums and those that pay for the TV subscriptions. Its not about football anymore, only money.

Its only going to get worse as people cannot afford to pay the high costs and more and more clubs are going to go into administration or Bankruptcy like Coventry, Rangers and Hearts football clubs. The clubs players and owners have basically become victims of their own success and greed.

This is not only affecting football within the UK, its happening all over Europe too.

Right - so how are they going to stop things like IPTV, on which AD Sports is available for far less money than a sub + a mahoooosive dish on 26E/7W?

Same with IPTV they will get the isp's to block them. Worldwide they haven't got a chance but you can be sure they will block them in the UK.
The problem will be is the IPTV boys will just keep changing servers/location so they will get away with it
