A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

A good gauge in this area is when Heathrow announces cancellations. 100 as of 30 minutes ago so tonight/tomorrow is not looking good.

Absolutely evil here today. Wet roads that froze overnight, then it snowed on them so the roads were like skating rinks this morning then again even worse as they froze again this evening I took one look at the hill in from town & could see the glazed look to it that always means trouble if you meet anything coming down it, so I went the long way round and slipped & slithered up the other hill at the far end of the valley

Went out to the car about an hour ago and there was a sprinkling of coarse snow or hail around. A bit nippy in the breeze as well.

So far, the snow came and went - and so it hasn't conquered (unlike about 35 yrs ago when I could not get >100yds along the adjacent main'ish road.

Hmm ..
just stopped again here ..
5 minutes of mini flakes and it's all over ..
The first flakes of snow to fall here in winter 2016/2017

..can't say I'm sorry tho...
walking with a stick is difficult enough without snow on the ground

There is 2.57cm of snow to greet us Tykes this morning.

I might have to break out my Sheep Molestation Footwear.

Couple of inches fell here, probably will be all gone by midday, there's already "sloppiness" forming under the laying snow, so ain't going to last, but that said, come sunday it's warming up again so no more winter for the next week or so...

I'm in stitches watching BBC Breakfast reporting live from Canterbury with melodramatic tales of Armageddon about what appears to be a sparse and patchy dusting of snow, none of which is lying on the roads.

It's beyond bizarre.

Make it compulsory, as part of the Driving Test, for everyone leaning to drive to spend time on a skid pan and reach an "acceptable" level of competence there - that's what we effectively had to do when driving around in the snow and ice on the 1960's/1970's - lot's of "fun", a lot of "near misses" and a few OMG situations! Worked though and I never had a "really big one", and so I am very careful in those (much less severe!) conditions now, as I know what can happen if I am not!

The driving test these days is a joke, it's not about learning to drive, it's just learning how to use a road system while operating a car, rather than learning about crash avoidance, driving in adverse conditions, and when to use hand signals to let other drivers what you think of them...

And, IIRC, they are dropping the parallel parking part of the test - just when it's becoming far more difficult to park in many places because of the limited spaces available, which is when you really do need to be able to parallel park (unless, of course, you can afford one of those "self-parking" cars!).

Did you listen to today's Jimmy Young prog, JE?

Some utter moron tried to justify parking deliberately right in the middle of two parking spaces in order to preserve his Astra's paintwork. Beyond belief.

No, but I saw it in a paper a couple of days ago - apparently called something like "doing a Clarkson" because he said he did that at times

It's weather like this that makes me glad I removed my Laminas dish and stored it in the toolshed. We had hail, snow, sleet and rain yesterday evening with extremely high winds. Power went off about 17:30 and didn't come back till 11:00 this morning.....
