I got my QboxHD 14 days ago, and 14 days I have tried to establish connections between qbox and PC unsuccessfully, now I've given up.

I have tried lan cable and serial null modem cable with no lock.

I have contacted Duolabs they sent a program so I can record log on qbox, but I can not unconnected

It must be something with IP address but what do I write in network setup

And what IP address do i write in qboxhd updater

Otherwise, the function i can do automatic scan and i can se the cannal on my tv set.

I hope for a little help before I throw qbox out the window

No throwing out of window :)
Do you connect the qbox through a router? If you go through a router, the easiest thing to do is give the QBOX a permanent IP address. You do this in the network settings of your router. Then when you reboot the box it will automatically connect.

Hi T_G thanks for help

I connect to a box with integrated modem, router, switch, firewall, telefon, wireless networks, but I must say I do not know much about IP Address, when you say network settings of my router, is it on my own computer I need to change something, or should I contact the dealer of box.

Have you got the WIFI module in the Qbox?

If not, you need to know what the IP address is that the qbox is getting from your router. But if you don't give the Qbox a permanent IP address it will always change. So what you need to do is enter the configuration of your router. You do this via a computer connected to the router.
Most routers will use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1, so if you put these numbers in your internet browser you should enter the menu. You can also find the IP address of the router if you look at the documentation of the router. What is the name and model of the router?

You have the PC and receiver on different subnets. They will only be able to see each other with a class B subnet. What do you have your subnet masks set to? If it is 255.255.0.0 (class  you will be fine, if it is 255.255.255.0 (class C) then they won't see each other.

Also, when you change the Qbox ip address in the updater, make sure you press the SAVE button before TEST - it will fail otherwise :-)

You can't have your router and your PC on the same IP address...

Can I make a suggestion?

Leave router on 192.168.1.11

Set PC to 192.168.1.1
Set Qbox HD to 192.168.1.2

(unless you have anything else on the network using those addresses of course..)

I'n my humble opinion, Duolabs should really start with a Serial Uploader like the dreambox. It is too difficult for most people. they do not know network and all that stuff ....

Yes network is not easy for everyone. Serial has the problem that most new PCs don't have a serial interface, especially notebooks.
But the updater software could be modified to give the choice serial or network. And the documentation give hints on reliable USB/RS232 converters.

There is now no connection with LAN and no with USB stik.

What do I do now.

Hi

Why did it stop in the middle, just like that? I think it might have screwed up the bootloader. I reckon a null modem cable needs to be used, but I am not sure how. Might be worth calling Duolabs and asking their advice. The worst that happens is you are goign to have to send it back for an update.

Lol any Linux receiver requires a bit of playing around with that. even the dreamboxes are like that. When I got my first Dreambox some 5 years ago I did not know ANYTHING about networking, routers, IP adresses, the whole lot. Today, after getting help from people here I am fairly adapt to setting up networks, connecting the recieivers and everything relöated to it.

It may look difficult and frustrating to begin with, but trust me that after some time you will be able to play with it and have lots of fun. I don't think there is a problem with networking and computers that we can't find a solution for :)

Also, did you try just as an exercise to put an update image on a USB stick at the back and see what happens?

Yes I tried the USB-stick with folder and file, I used PDF-file Qbox restore with USB-stick, I used 2 USB stick as the manual says.

But I am not sure I really understood the words in the manual especially,
Turn off your Qbox and remmove the internal original USB stick slim (Pen1)

A picture would have been nice,

but I have sent reciveren today
