Hi everyone,

has anyone else had trouble receiving the Karnaval Media Group radio stations on Turksat 42 East west beam as advised on both lyngsat, flysat and even the Karnaval Media Group website, though it don’t mention which beam on their website.

frequency info is 11126 V, 1666, 2/3.

I have an Edision Mio 4K +, OpenATV 6.3, 85cm dish, Technomate H2h mount. When I do a blind search it don’t find it, and a manual search don’t seen to find anything on that transponder either.

tnx
Steve

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Suggestion - try, via the Menus, to manually add that transponder to the transponder list for that sat.

Hey, as I am quite new to this, would that be the manual scan under reception or maybe another menu I may have missed?

under manual scan I have the choice of changing to user defined transponder, and type in the freq symbol rate etc then scan but still it won’t find anything?

Ya I don’t think it’s west beam either actually, because a while back them stations changed over to east beam only. Unless there are tests or something happening to bring them back I guess I’ll just wait and see. would be helpful if both lyngsat and flysat got the info correct though wouldn’t it, as it’s a big difference of a foot print.

Flysat - wouldnt be the first time they have got the beam wrong on a new transponder. Too many contributors race to be the first report and guess at what the beam is rather than waiting a few days to confirm it.....

Its supposedly on the west beam .... so should be receivable .... Turksat is pretty strong .... but i have noticed some transponders that carry just radio on Turksat can be somewhat weaker that the T.V transponders .. so a smallish dish or a dish that,s not perfectly aligned might struggle ..

Hmm that’s true, maybe it’s a case of just waiting and seeing, in any case these stations are easily found online I know that too, but I paid out the money for this satellite system so want the most I can get out of it I suppose;) anyway guys thanks for the updates, if anything changes and anyone manages to find them plz let me know.

Im using a 1m dish aimed at 46E offset lnb for 42E so there should be plenty of signal if it is indeed on the west beam.

I don't have any Edision receivers, but I do have an Octagon SX88 which may be somewhat similar, and so this is what I do in those circumstances:

Manually adding a sat &/or transponder is not done by scanning - point the dish at the sat in question and then lock up and view a channel with a strong signal so that I can be sure the dish is accurately aligned on that sat.

Then I would go into the Installation section and lock for the Transponder list and see if there is an option to Add a new one (which my SX88 does), I click on that and enter the relevant transponder parameters and "confirm" that entry.

Once that transponder appears in the transponder list, I select that one and then I tap the "Search" button on the screen to enter the scan menu, and then confirm that I want to scan that transponder - at which point the receiver will scan that transponder and hopefully a list of the found transponders will display.

I would then exit the menus back the main screen, and tap the TV/Radio button on the remote controlto switch from the TV channels to the Radio ones

IN FACT, the latter "tap" might actually be the only thing you need to do because your receiver may have already found those radio channels - but you can't get to them because you haven't tapped that button!

PS, and I hope this turns out not to be the case: There appear to be some "underlying design similarities" between Edision and Octagon receivers, and, as discussed in the latest post in the "Old Timer needs system help...." thread - and from my own limited experience - the SX88-series receivers are definitely not at it best on channels with very low Symbol Rates. Certainly they seem to have issues with SR of 1000 or less, but don't know if that weakness is still apparent at SR 1666 - but, if it is, then it may not be possible to get the channels that you want with your current receiver??

You are right .. @Analoguesat
i.v just had a look here with a 1.2 dish and can only see the slightest hint of signal so agreed must be on the East beam after all

Thanks for that reply Jeallen, I have a sx88 or similar so I know exactly what you mean by adding the transponders there (just couldn’t be ass3d to find it and rig it up;) I think you can edit the transponders another way through a file online with enigma2 boxes but to be honest I have not got that far yet and just got it all working how I want it, maybe I’ll do some messing along them lines when I get bored a little later.

Also thanks nelson b, looks like it’s confirmed for now then. Thanks for everyone’s input here.
