On the night of December 13-14 this year. there will be some changes to Rai transponders. One of the more important will be to disable most of the broadcaster's SD channels. Below we present what exactly will change.

From the transponder No. 124 of the Eutelsat Hot Bird 13C (13 ° E) satellite with a frequency of 10.992 GHz, pol. V, SR: 27500, FEC: 2/3; DVB-S / QPSK will be removed: Rai 4, Rai 5, Rai Movie, Rai Premium, Rai Sport, Rai Storia, Rai News 24, Rai Gulp, Rai YoYo and Rai Scuola. They will be replaced by: Rai Storia HD, Rai Scuola HD and Rai Premium HD (transferred from TP No. 125).

On the transponder No. 125 of the Eutelsat Hot Bird 13C (13 ° E) satellite with a frequency of 11.013 GHz, pol. H, SR: 29900, FEC: 3/4; DVB-S2 / 8PSK in the place of the stations: Rai Storia HD, Rai Scuola HD and Rai Premium HD (transfer to TP No. 124) will appear Rai Sport + HD (transfer from TP No. 52)

On the transponder No. 52 of the Eutelsat Hot Bird 13C satellite (13 ° E)with a frequency of 11.766 GHz, pol. V, SR: 29900, FEC: 3/4; DVB-S2 / 8PSK bitrate remaining after removing Rai Sport + HD will be used to improve the quality of stations currently broadcasting there.

Viewers count on an improvement in quality, because since the addition of the complete set of regional versions of Rai 3, the broadcaster has faced considerable criticism due to the huge decline in the technical quality of the channels due to their overpopulation. On tp. 125 there were as many as 7 HD and 24 SD channels. After the changes, the number of HD channels on this transponder will be reduced to 5. For years, Rai has been a model indicated by viewers as caring for the highest technical quality, so when the stations were "stuffed" on transponders, viewers paid attention to it.

Technical parameters (from 14.12):

Grazie mille per l' aggiornamento!!

so ,which Rai will remain FTA as they they are today?
Will we keep rai 1,2,3SD as they are now?
Or will we enjoy them in HD?
I'm asking because the 11992 is not fully fta.now
If all we read is FTA it'll be marvelous!!

The Octagon SX88+ is preferable to the Primo as it still receives updates and is available new.

A Tivusat card might be a better option.

tivusat only gives Italy
another question,is Multistream a deep trend, will most "interesting " tv institutions,s like Germany,France,Italy,Spain ,UK follow this and be behind multistreams? or only France for expats & Italy?

Unless you can receive the 9°E Italy beam then Tivusat will provide more Italian channels. Don't think there are any UK or German multistreams on satellite. They aren't intended for home reception either.

Every country/distributor is free to choose which way they distribute their signals.
Most will use fiber, others will just receive the signals from the "normal" DTH satellite distribution.
UK uses 27.5W for some transmitters, Italy/France/Spain/Bulgaria/? use multistream via satellite.
Others IPTV via DVB data-signals, who knows?

For Italian signals I would invest in a multistream capable receiver: Dreambox, VU+, Octagon, Edison, Mut@nt, Xsarius, GigaBlue and more have some receivers capable of receiving multistream.
On the other hand a one-time investment in a TivùSat card is also not that expensive.

among those youquoted which would be easier to get?
Edision seems to be unavailable ,or only second hand (is that a "grey" market of some sort?)
...anything newer on the market?
As to Octagon ,the thread about it is so long I' m at a loss as to
-which to buy
-how to use it?
i 'd like to record stuff, either with in built PVR or USB hard drive/stick

No different to selecting a Channel on any other receiver.
