Any recommendations for a C Band LNB , From looking at all the feed back I have been reading Norsat 3000 series seems to be one of the better ones on the market .

Many Thanks

I have both the Norsat 3120F and 3220F LNB's sitting in the loft practically brand new and boxed. Their only use since purchased new was for one or two tests I did with them for a few hours. This pair of Norsat LNB's I have here are for sale if you wanted to buy one in the UK than import from the USA?

My personal preference nowadays is for a cheaper twin probe LNBF that is shoved into a polo pipe which removes the need for the dielectric plate on circular polarity satellites.

Your other option would be to forget about Norsat's and get an ultra cheap single probe Chinese LNB from Ali Express or more expensive identical Chinese LNB from Satellite Superstore (UK seller). The Chinese single probe LNB's come with a WR229 flange that will bolt on to your co-rotor C-Band port. There should be plenty of signal coming from your 3.7m dish that a more expensive Norsat LNB might hold no advantage over a cheap Chinese single probe LNB?

Hi MoonBase yes it was all your feed back on the Norsat 3000 series LNBs that got me thinking , All ok on the history of them from what I can see the better one is the Norsat 3120F as the Stability is 5 Khz and the other is 10 Khz . What price where you looking at . All ok on your personal perference its a case of finding things at the right price . Its a nice dish so think its best to get a half decent C band Lnb . The Ku band LNB came the other day also the replacement Corotor so I think I will make a start this weekend cutting the old arms off and installing Rimants ones . Just got to find some screws and a O ring .

My thanks to all the guys who cut me a deal on there items

In real world tests there would not be much between the Norsat 3120F and 3220F. The paper specifications show the 3120F with tighter stability but to be honest for hobby satellite is there any real advantage in an extra 5KHz stability on a large dish?

If you let me know your preferred model between the 3120F and the 3220F I will provide a price.

All understood MoonBase yes looking at the spec of both of them there is not much in it but since you have both I might as well go for the 3120F .

Still a long way before I start fitting the arms as I want to rub down and respray the dish plus still got a lot fowleage to cut down in front of the dish but I now have the replacement Ku LNB , Corotor and arms so once I have the replacement C band LNB its all good to go .

The price for the Norsat 3120F C-Band LNB is £200 excluding shipping, payment by bank transfer. Shipping will be extra but at cost price, you choose the type of shipping service.

TBH, if you can't trust someone who's been on this forum for a very long time and has a great reputation, then WHO can who you trust (and I would trust Moonbase in a similar situation, as I would RimaNTSS)?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

All flange LNBs (229 size for C band) have their gasket included and usually a four bolt/nut, but not always.

From memory they are imperial threads as well, but it is a long time since I was in the job of screws/screwing.

Thanks CH I thought I better check as knowing my luck it will end up the same as the Ku band without a gasket and nuts + bolts I know that MB bought his from the states so thought it best to ask .I would have used the old ones on old LNB but like the Ku LNB there all seized solid . If I had a pillar drill here I would drill the buggers out but I dont and all the local engineering companys are closed but should I hope open mid June .

As for the Ku band LNB + corotor after giving it a lot of thought and the cost I think the best way is to mount the Lnb straight onto the corotor . So it will look like the attachment . The Lnb has its own O ring so it will seal on the corotor flange face . Mounting it this way just means a few more inchs to reach so I see any problems . I could use the C Band LNB that Satfaca gave me when I bought his corotor but that does not have a gasket or nuts + bolts sound like I might need a kit . I am sure when I bought all my kit 30+ years ago I am sure that each Lnb had its own O ring / nuts + bolts these days it all seems to be extra .

As long as you know the type, length and thread-form of the bolts, then it should be relatively easy to find replacements!

Were the additional bolts and o-ring with the elbow no good ?

The losses through a H-plane version will match those of the Chaparral E type (approximately 0.12-0.18 d B at centre frequency.
