Review of the latest KOQIT satellite receiver from E-bay
This is probably the latest model as it arrived in my mail this week.
(I will write a review of my other KOQIT later)
So, at £25 what can you expect?
****Power supply:****
The power supply is now built in. Power supply seems fair and safe enough. There is a fuse and combined resistor just before the rectifier bridge.
There is isolation distance. No mains filter. Not sure if it's needed. Seems fair enough for EU market.
****Remote:****
The remote worked poorly, I re-located the IR sensor because the buttons blocked the signal. Warning: Cut IR sensor legs at it does not withstand much heat, I broke it de-soldering it. (I took an IR sensor from a non working receiver in my junkbin)
Result: Remote works not normally.
The remote have it’s button re-aligned, so it’s not compatible with previous remotes used on KOQIT! (Shame, since I have many...)
****Menu system, software:****
Menu system seem to work ok
Subitiles on BBC now works without hiccup, no problem
Software jammed on choosing Sky News, had to turn on-off (Happens sometimes)
****Media playback:****
Seem to work fine
****Sound / Picture:****
Sound is superb, so is picture in HD.
USALS Goto X: Tested, but motor goes back to PREVIOUS position after a new scan, so you think it don’t work at first! You have to drive the motor back again after a new scan… Bug?
Conclusion: Seems to work OK, but I have not tested all of the software
****Minus:****
Link to Red Tube in Apps (Not family oriented!)
---end of review---
Anyway, I discovered MEGASAT had a line of receivers, resonably priced here in Norway from £60. Better choice?
