Samsung is warning customers to avoid discussing personal information in front of their smart television set.


The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature.

And if your TV has a camera, for Skype or whatever, I would advise to consider very carefully what "activities" you get up to in front of it. You neve know who might be watching.

In a similar vein I have blob of BluTak over the camera on my new laptop. Just to be on the safe side.

I have a bit of black tape over my laptop camera as I never use it.

And people think I'm weird for disabling screen-mounted cameras and muting the microphone on my laptops, can't trust software to not be looking at what you're doing...

There was another device out there not long ago (a high spec TV ?) where the manufacturer had built the listening device into the remote control, supposedly to 'assist' those with manual dexterity issues.
