i am in egypt using showtime and want to know if i buy one of these digital hard disc recorders from the uk will it work with my showtime reciever? the one i have seen is a digihome dti 160, i have noticed it had a built in freeview, i know this will not work here but am worried this will stop me getting my showtime channels.
Any help would be so grateful.
Thanks in advance guys.

Why do you want to do this?
You need a satellite receiver with Irdeto support, and it looks like this model is for terrestrial channels. So check this point first.
I think that there is a dedicated Showtime PVR receiver which will enable user to record to HDD.

All those PVRs like the digihome dti 160 are no good for your purpose.

You need a good HDD recorder like the excellent Panasonic Dmr EX78EB-K.

FreeView is the builtin equivalent of the old RF connection
and seems to be fitted to all UK sourced equipment these days.

Outside the UK you can ignore it.

As long as there AV input sockets you will have no problem connecting the recorder to your satellite box. It will work like a good old VCR
