Morning

Just switched the box on, and I'm getting massive data-stream audio breakthrough on many/most channels on SKY on Astra 2 - completely preventing the actual audio being heard!

OTOH, a few channels are not affected - so I'm guessing that this happening on specific transponders/channels

Anyone else getting this?

NB: everything was fine when we went to bed around 11.30 last evening.

Certainly, on the Sky box itself, most of the "500 series" news and "400 series " sports channels were/are suffering the issue - but not 504/BBC Parliament and maybe a couple of others. 101/BBC London SD is also clear, but many others are not

Therefore I'm not sure what is happening as I've just fired up the SX88 in the "office" with the Gibby and, on 28E, I had a quick scan through some of the same channels without - yet - getting the same problem.

OTOH, maybe there's something in the data streams which is affecting the SKY+ HD box but not the SX88???

OTOH2, there's about a 20m lateral displacement between the Gibby and the Zone 2 dish dedicated to 28E - so maybe there's a new and very local interference source between Astra 2 and the latter dish???

And now, at just after 11.00, the interference on the SKY+ HD box has disappeared on the channels where it was 90 mins or so ago.

Still wondering what caused it, and whether it will reappear??:confused

It could be the Sky box.

If it comes back take a video recording of it & poop it up on youtube - we might be able to help you a little if we can see the issue

The video was totally unaffected, as were the subtitles when I switched them on - the effect was purely on the audio stream, with all voices being totally "overwritten" by a continuous loud staccatto noise like a teletype m/c printing very quickly.

PS: in the past, I have occasionally heard the same sorts of sounds on the TM5402 M3 and (I think) the SX88 when viewing various channels on other sats - and some channels were thus affected whilst others on the same sats were not.

Just a "bump" to see if anyone (else?) has any idea of what caused the issue I encountered this morning (and why it then "disappeared")??

Is it a "sun eclipse" problem?

I really have no idea - but I would have thought that that sort of "problem" would be more likely to result in a "no signal at alll" situation, rather than a specifically " massive audio, but no video, interference" event.
